Charged extra $10 on shipboard account

Do you seriously think your stateroom host dinged you with this on purpose because you didn't tip enough? :scratchin

Not sure why he charged us. The bag was there. The only other reason I can think (which is worse) is that Disney makes the stateroom hosts charge so many rooms this charge to see if they can get more money out of us.

I don't like either option, but the bag was there, so there has to be a reason behind them charging me and many other people this bogus charge.

Got charged the $10 last April after getting off the Magic. Found out it was for the laundry bag. I immediately informed them I did not take it. What had happened is we had some things dry cleaned, and they didn't return the bag when they brought back the dry cleaning.

They promptly refunded my money.

A $10 souvenir doesn't sound like a bad idea now that I think about it.

It's usually in the closet on top of the safe or hanging from one of the hangers.

Interesting, it def. wasn't in our room, because I used that closet, and was actually looking for a plastic type laundry bag most hotels usually have to put our wet swimsuits in. I wasn't charged though, good thing!

Have you considered it was a mistake??? :confused3 I see that you contacted DCL and I trust you will resolve this without having to pay $10. I doubt the stateroom host or DCL is trying to rip you off. :crazy2:

Mike

PS, since you seem to buy into conspiracy theories, here's one for you. Perhaps, another guest on your floor had it out for you, and stole your laundry bag on the last morning, knowing that DCL would ding you with a $10 fee.

Chances are it fell to the floor in the closet, and the host didn't see it. I really doubt staterooms hosts are dinging people for lost items because they feel slighted on the tip, nor do I believe DCL has a quota to charge guests for lost items.

Mistakes happen; DCL is pretty good about correcting them, though it may take a little time.

Your name calling is not wanted here

If someone was handy maybe they could make a quick FE hanger out of it????
I could have saved $5 if I used that bag instead of the $15 bag on sale at the store when I realized I forgot to pack my FE Hanger. :lmao:

I realize this is an old thread, but interestingly, I was just charged on my credit card (after the cruise) 10 dollars for a laundry bag. I had called because I did not understand the extra charge. The Disney agent said it was for a laundry bag.

We did not take the laundry bag. They are contacting the ship now and I hope to hear from them later in the day.

I was wondering if this was an ongoing problem. Has anyone else had this charge?

Well, the $10 charge still happens! We just got off the Fantasy and got home and sure enough were charged a separate $10 the day after the cruise. We used the bag to have a shirt laundered and didn't get the bag back after we used it. It's weird if the stateroom host is charging you for the bag b/c he is the one that took the bag with the dirty shirt in it from me, so you would think he wouldn't have charged me for the bag if he knew he took it!

Our luggage was delivered to our rooms missing wheels in both my room and my parents room and Disney couldn't help us fix that, but they sure are ready to charge you an extra $10. I'm am so over Disney's customer service! I just called about the bag and they said it would take 2-3 weeks for them to investigate the laundry bag and not to expect a refund for at least 3 weeks, but it only took them 1 day to charge me!

Of our 8 cruises twice our luggage was broken by DCL. They reimbursed us new replacement value each time. You have to call a 407 Orlando phone number for loss prevention and leave a voice mail. They will contact you with a claim number. You must take pictures of luggage, find replacement on Internet, and take luggage to repair shop and obtain receipt saying luggage cannot be repaired. Disney has reimbursed $300 via mail by check.

I got the $10charge but it was by my mistake. We folded our dirty clothes and placed them on top of the safe. I didnt even know there was a laundry bag til we got home and it was on the bottom of the pile! Packing on the last day I jusy picked upthe pile and threw it in the suitcase..then i saw the $10 charge..oh well..unexpected souvenier.

For those who are concerned that their stateroom attendant dinged them for the laundry bag despite a generous tip: it may be that the stateroom attendant isn't the one "dinging" you. I haven't been on DCL yet, but on RCCL and NCL on turnover days, the line brings onboard land-based staff to do all kinds of things (maintenance work, painting, inventory, etc), including turning over the staterooms faster.
