Is there a charge for a refrigerator at the Poly? I had one at the GF last year but they did not charge me there.

Yes, $10 per day unless you are a concierge guest.

They waive the fee if you need the fridge for medical reasons, i.e. to keep meds cold. My husband is diabetic and they had no problem providing complimentary fridge for his insulin.

There have been no reports recently about any of the resorts waiving the fee. I would check on the disabilities board if there is a medical reason, they should know over there.

We requested a refrigerator at the ASMo and when they discovered that it was needed to keep our son's formula refrigerated they waived the fee.

Trekker is right, due to abuses, they stopped waiving the fee for medical reasons a year or so ago. Too abd some bad apples spoiled it for those who really needed it. :(

If you are in a deluxe resort witha minibar there will be enough room to put in the insulin or other small (medication sized) bottles.

We went at the end of September, 2002, and received a fridge for no charge. We had it noted on our reservation and asked again about it at check-in. Other than it taking a while to be brought to our room, we had no problem getting the fridge.

We stayed at Coronado Springs the last two summers and they waived the charge because my mom is a diabetic.

I can see how the resorts may be extra careful now if people have been abusing the policy. In our case, we were fully willing to pay the refrigerator fee. When we checked out we noticed that we hadn't been charged for the refrigerator, my husband pointed it out because we thought they had just forgot that we had one. They said that they noticed that we had a baby on formula and that that was the only thing we were using it for so they waived the charge. We never asked them to waive it and we never told them why we needed the refrigerator.

Once we stayed at the GF, had not requested a refrigerator, but noticed that there was one in our room. Of course, we were not charged for it but it was a nice little extra for the room.

We got a fridge at the Poly last time. It was supposed to be $10 a day but the never charged us for it! We lucked out. We are getting one again but will not mind paying for it as it is so much better then dealing with coolers and ice!:D

I have two insulin diabetics in my crew and we have only been charged once or twice over the years at the Poly and it has been several years since that happened. Got back two weeks ago and there were already two larger black refrigs in our room when we checked in. Not full size but larger than the old ones especially in the freezer. Same thing happened last year. We were in accessible rooms in Rapa Nui on these two trips.

We stayed at the BC in Jan. I called to request a fridge as soon as we got there. It arrived in just a few minutes. I was perpared to explain I need it to store insulin, but they sd there was no charge. We got a coffee maker too!

It was a great stay as we were in 2 wonderful redecorated rooms with full balconys and a view of the lake. And as an interesting note, I made no requests except for connecting rooms and had a ressie for a standard view with a code. It is the best rooms we have ever gotten!

There has been inconsistency with being charged for a refrigerator for medication/insulin and even special formula/food for a child on a special diet.

Some people have been able to get the refrigerator for no charge (as some of the posters on this thread) and some have not, even when they reserved it thru WDW Reservations Special Needs Reservations. One poster said they talked to the manager at their resort and were told their other choice to being charged was to store their child's insulin behind the front desk, even if that meant several trips to the front desk per day!! Other posters even said the front desk CMs/managers were telling them that since "insulin does not require refrigeration," a refrigerator would not be provided unless the fee was paid.
Many people have posted over the past 2 or 3 years that they were told too many people without medical needs were saying they had medical needs just to get a refrigerator at no cost, so the fee waiving was stopped entirely. Recently, people have been reporting they did not have to pay, so the pendulum seems to be swinging back toward getting it at no cost for medical needs.
So, I guess my advice is to ask (and ask again and again if necessary) about having the fee waived if you have a medical need for the refrigerator. If you don't have to ask or explain at all, that's great.

We stayed at the GF in September in a non-concierge room. We requested a fridge (no medical reasons) and we were not charged.

We requested frig when we booked. When we checked in CM asked if we still wanted it. I said yes due to baby food and milk and CM waived the charges.

Small but very nice thing to do for a family with a baby.

Just how big are the refrigerators ?
If you plan to store milk/juice and sodas is there enough room ?

We just got back taday.. Two days before we left my daughter got strep throat. I called CRO and they said they could provide a fridge free of charge. When we arrived at CBR we were told to put the amox. in the ice bucket. When we arrived at our room there was a fridge waiting. When we checked out we noticed we were billed 10.65 per day for the fridge. I called the cbr manager and he told me they would credit us for the charge.

while this won't be convient if your flying, we always take an electric cooler with us. we stock up on drinks and snacks before we leave home and plug it in the car. Once we arrive we've had ASmu and HRH both plug it in for us in storage. At ASMu they delieved it to the room once the room was ready, and had it plugged in for us. Ours is a large one, 20gallons(?) but we also have a 2 gallon one we keep in the car all of the time. It come in very handy in the summer to keep drinks, doggie bags etc cold while runnign errands, or to keep icecream from melting on the way home on a hot day
