Charge extra for an "adult" in the room?

Well the one thing good about most family rooms is that they can have a washer/dryer in room so we are paying up for less hassle (have heard laundry rooms in hotels can have quite the wait). We are going for 3 weeks so definitely need to wash.
That's nice! Take care to note that it's often the case that japanese dyers are not like the ones you get here so don't expect the same level of dryness as you get here. Most often the reasons there's a wait is it can take hours and hours and hours to dry.

*OT I know for the thread

Almost every hotel is like this. It is more of a kids are free situation so you pay if there are more than 2 adults in the room. It is every hotel I have ever stayed at. Rented a house once and it was like 9 bedrooms and they charged for everyone over 2 people on top of the high cost of the rental and you know there is no couple renting that big house

Have you ever stayed at a Marriott since 2019, they charge this fee for adults over 2 per room? And the fee varies by class of hotel and location.

The industry has been moving toward this trend, nearly 60% of US hotel chains have adopted similar practices, presumably to combat increasing operational expenses. This widespread use of extra person charges has led to customer dissatisfaction; roughly 30% of travelers are frustrated by these charges.

It's also ridiculous for the hotel to say that it's because the 18-20 year old could get a separate room. A majority of US hotels will not rent a room to someone under the age of 21, so my kids still need to stay with us.

Hi all. Just a note for newcomers and a reminder for regular posters, posts involving ways to circumvent Disney policy are not permitted on DISBoards. That includes suggestions, experiences, or results with not including your accurate party on a room reservation.

Thank you.

There are a few Disney Springs hotels (I know Holiday Inn is one of them) that will always report to Disney that there are two adults and two children in the room regardless of your actual party makeup when booking the reservation. I've been solo and had to add extra people in MDE just to be able to link the room in the Disney app. With these hotels the app won't let you proceed without naming 4 people in MDE that will be staying in the room. The hotel even tells you to use names of characters to fill extra positions if necessary.

Do you have you have a link? I think more then 60% of hotels charge for more then 2 adults in the room.
Some hotels charge extra for a third person, regardless of age.

It's also ridiculous for the hotel to say that it's because the 18-20 year old could get a separate room. A majority of US hotels will not rent a room to someone under the age of 21, so my kids still need to stay with us.
This thread is the first place I've read your point. It's not valid. A hotel will rent multiple rooms to one adult. Connecting rooms work. Some people don't want to share a room with older (teenage) kids. Many hotels don't even require connecting rooms. They'll just get rooms near each other. A hotel could, theoretically, tell the adults to split.

More guests use more water, towels etc. The common areas of hotel such as the pool aren't designed for quad occupancy in every room.
2A and 2C inevitably leads to some kids using the hall as an extension of the room.

Edited to add some people make up reasons to justify cheating and lying

I travel with two minors all the time and have no trouble getting connecting rooms. You may need to call to explain the situation but it has never been an issue.
