We are taking our two girls to The World this December - they will be 2 and 3 when we go. I'm debating between going to Chef Mickey's or Mickey's Backyard BBQ. There's a pretty big price difference between the two, and I was just wondering if all you expert World people could give me your opinions on the two, whats the food like, and which is better/more fun for my girls, given their ages. Also, we are getting the dining plan - are either or both meals covered on there does anyone know? Also, any other suggestions on other character dining we should do? We are 100% going to do the Cinderella's Castle one (I'm so excited for that one and I'm 27!), but I don't really know what else is good.
Thanks in advance!!!!

Crystal Palace at MK - Pooh and Friends
1900 Park Fare at GF - Cinderella, Prince, Stepmother and step sisters
Garden Grill at Epcot - Mickey, Pluto, Chip and Dale
Akershus at Epcot - princesses

We've enjoyed the atmostphere and the food at these four. Hollywood & Vine has a Playhouse Disney character meal, not as impressed with this buffet, but the little ones enjoyed the characters.

I was excited about CRT and was really disappointed. No one in our party enjoyed the food. We've gone for lunch and dinner and would much rather go to 1900 Park Fare to meet Cinderella. It was worth going once, but we won't bother with CRT again.

Have Fun!!

Here is my recommendations

1) Definately Chef Mickey's over BYBBQ. CM's is a 1 point meal on DDP, BYBBQ is 2. Definately not worth two in my opinion. Especially for girls of 2 and 3. The issue is that it takes a really LONG time to get to the BBQ (unless you are staying at FW). You have to either go to MK and then take the boat to FW and then walk to the pavillion OR you have to go to a park, take a bus to FW, then you have to take another bus AROUND FW (place is HUGE!) and then you have to still walk to the pavillion. It's a lot for the little ones. If you are a fan of country music, you will enjoy the show. We are not so while we found the show fun, it wasn't our favorite. The character interaction is really limited as they are clearly intructed to try to dance with all two hundred children who make a mad rush to the dance floor when the character appear. The food was really NOT good and I was really disappointed that we "paid" an 18% gratuity when there was absolutely NO service (you get your own food and drinks). This is something we definately won't be repeating. CM's is fun and gets you into the Disney mood. You'll get plenty of time with characters and the food was good.

2) CRT. If you plan to go there...may I recommend breakfast. I haven't tried lunch but the dinner was one of the worst meals I've ever had. Very disappointing. They also take the dining plan (it's two credits...but you do get a photo package and a wand with your meal). If you really want to do CRT, make sure to call at 7am on the 180 mark and cross your fingers. I just called for my Sept ADR. I called at exactly 7am on my 180th day and was able to get my ADR but did not have my choice of times. And that's in Sept when the parks are empty.

We like Crystal Palace at MK (food is really good) and 1900 Park Fare for character meals. We are doing Akershus for the first time this year so I can't comment on that one.

I voted both!

We LOVE Chef Mickey's, it was real relaxed and was a great way to end our trip (we did it the last night). We have not done the bbq but it sounds like fun too!

i completely agree with them all the way. These are the one we have to do almost every trip. We also do Chef Mickey and The BBQ but not every trip.

We did Chef Mickey's breakfast last year. It was great fun. The food was delicious and there was a wide variety to please picky eaters. The characters were very entertaining and attentive. While I haven't been to the BBQ, I can most positively recommend CM for your 2 daughters. It's great fun for young and old!
