Hello :wave2:

What characters have you seen for photos autographs and in parades?

I am hoping to do a personalized autograph book for my daughter (she will only be 6 months) when we go! The dis creative forum has inspired!

Apart from the usual ones that are listed in the programme on the official meet'n'greets, this weekend I saw Elvis Stitch, Lilo, Daisy in 40's get-up, the Evil Queen from Snow White, Gaston, Mary Poppins and Bert walking around.

We saw Launchpad McDuck at our meal in Inventions. I don't think he's normally seen round the parks but he's always been at Inventions whenever we've been - he must like it there!

forgive me if this is a stupid question, but I've always wondered about personalising autograph book pages with characters etc before you get their autographs at DLP - what do you do with the personalised pages you don't get the autograph for :confused3?

There are so many characters we've seen around the parks on our trips, I don't honestly think it would be possible to fit them all in one autograph book - but theres no guarantee you'll meet any of them really, unless you queue at the advertised meet n greets, and even then you can't guarantee which Princess you'll meet for example.

I'd say that the meets with characters (even at some of the character meals) can be quite frantic - and of course the characters can't always See that well - which means that with the best will in the world, you will get the signature where you get it.

We found that some of the characters even when handed an open book at a blank page, turned the page, fumbled the book, held the book upside down etc. It might be asking a bit much, particularly in a scrum, to get a sig on a Specific decorated page. (Of course, for some characters, particularly non-mask ones, personalised pages might get you more attention. I can almost guarantee the Evil Queen from Snow White would like it!)

In retrospect (and not just because we lost Book Version 1...) I wish we'd not used an Official DLP princess autograph book, but something with blank removal leaves (wirebound etc). These can then be decorated afterwards, put with photos, re-bound if you wish etc.

Would also have let me Remove signed pages every night in the hotel and not have lost so many!

I say go for it (although you may regret it when you see how long it takes to print and make it :rotfl2:). I made one for the first time on our recent trip and as we've been so many times thought it would be different to our normal Disney books.

The characters LOVED it, they all signed on the correct page (we put the correct page on top beforehand), and indeed it certainly attracted the attention of the Evil Queen, Gaston (of course :rotfl2:) and Cruella (she loved it very much and kept on coming back to tease us about how much we must love her :rotfl:). Other characters too especially during the Stars and Cars parade, a lot were walking by other people but as ours stood out they did stop and sign everytime, although Emilie was upset as I'd missed her off :rotfl2:. We even had people asking where they could get a personalised one from! Cinderella told my daughter she had a very clever Mummy and was lucky she had such a special book, and spent ages looking through it and seeing the other characters - so definitely worth it :lovestruc

As I held ours together with book rings they were so easy to undo and take out the ones we had gathered that day and for our next trip all I will have to do is to just add either the new characters or ones I missed and put back the ones we didn't manage this time, so all in all a brilliant idea.

I also printed transfer pictures onto canvas drawstring bags and the children got the characters in Cafe Mickey to sign them with Sharpies, this also attracted lots of attention and is something really special to keep.

Good luck with the making of it:thumbsup2

oh that sounds great MummyMinnie. Do you mind asking me how you made the book?

Do you have any pictures of the book & bags at all?

This is the thread with some pics in - the autograph book is the bottom left before I put it together.

And this is the thread I followed on the Creative Designs board on here - warning though it's really addictive :rotfl2:

I really enjoyed doing them but in future will give myself more time, the autograph book in particular is time consuming but is really worth it, don't forget to post pics if you have a go.

I made the autograph books for my ds and friends dd for our xmas trip and they did draw a lot of attention for the kids, not just from face characters but lilo and mickey and minnie made abig fuss of them, rapunzel and flynn espcially made big deal over them. I must admit that they take a bit of time but they are worth it. I print some pages just with a themed border in case we find any characters that havent got their own pages. For characters that you tend to bump into often such as mickey/minnie/chip/dale/daisy/donald, i printed them their own pages as well as them in their pairs.

I as going to just place a picture of them may be if we saw them in a parade or something if e didnt actually get to meet them!

I think I am just going to make it once I get home and know what characters we have etc
