Just wondering if I'd be able to handle this. I have no extreme fear of heights per say...I just fear that when I'm up high the ride might break! I also hate, hate, hate the butterfly feeling in my stomach that you would get with sudden drops or twists etc. Plus, I have recently developed a bad case of motion sickness. With all this said, do you think I can handle the CIF hot air balloon ride? I would love to experience this scenic ride but fear the motion, like if it raises too fast and leaves your stomach on ground or comes down too fast and puts my stomach in my head :crazy2:. I would really love to be able to surprise my hubby and ride this with my him and granddaughter and show him I'm not as much of a wuss as he thinks I am ! Help ! And plz be honest...I know all you daredevils will think this ride is nothing, I need to hear from ppl like myself who have somehow found the courage to ride this and what they really thought and would they? Could they? do it again?:confused3

If you are talking about the balloon in Downtown Disney currently it is not flying and I haven't heard anything about when it will be again.

Actually, it is flying again:

OP, we're looking forward to trying it this coming week, but probably not DH as he isn't comfortable with heights and spinning (not sure how much it rotates up there). DD and I will probably do it. Looking forward to it. JMO, but it sounds like you might not ENJOY it - you might do it, but would you enjoy it?

Hope to hear from others, in case my Hubby would be able to do it.

I am exactly the opposite..I grew up flying in my BFF's fathers balloon in races through Temecula, Palm Springs and Las Vegas NV... Not sure that I could go up in a balloon 20 years later.. I would attempt but would not enjoy it like when I was younger...

I'm sorry I didn't know but I am happy to hear its up and running again!

I loved it. The Hubby... not so much. LOL. If you're not afraid of hights... I say go for it. It doesn't go up every day. All according to the weather and wind on any given day. Here is the # 407-938-9433.
Nancy :thumbsup2

The balloon does not rotate at all and very little swaying. There are multiple cables which keep it from floating loose, and they are what lets it rise and brings it down. And the ascent/decent are slow.

I SO wanted to do this on my last 2 trips but haven't made it yet. 2 years ago we just didn't get a chance to do it. This year we made 3 different trips to DTD for it and it wasn't running any of the times. One day it was windy, one it was raining and the other day they said it was the wind again although at ground level I didn't notice any wind.

I've done the CIF balloon ride a few times. The balloon rises and descends verrrrry slowly and smoothly - not stomach-dropping in the least. I doubt you'd even be aware of any up or down motion. As noted, it is very well stabilized and tethered, so there is no spinning or rotating or rocking. And it doesn't go up if there is any wind at all, so you can expect your time in the air to be very calm and stable. I went once with my son, who isn't really afraid of heights but is mildly apprehensive. He said he wasn't nervous during the ride at all and that he really enjoyed it. The observation basket, or whatever it's called, is enclosed in a sort of cage, so everyone is securely inside. I truly think that you wouldn't have any issues at all, and I hope that you'll go ahead and do it. Even though the balloon doesn't go up all that high, the view is really spectacular.

Great ! I really hope I can keep the nerve to do this until April comes ! You just made me excited to try it. I've always wanted to a Hot Air Balloon over the Lancaster farm countryside in Lancaster PA...but was too afraid to try it. I would hope this might give me a close look as to what I might experience if I ever do get the opportunity and nerve. Can't wait to surprise hubby and granddaughter !

For a balloon it's pretty stable and you feel secure. It's one of the greatest experiences I've ever done. The downside is that you have to seemly get 'perfect' weather conditions for it to go up.

I tried it last year for the first time and I loved it. I'm not good with heights but I thought the view would be worth it and it was. It's ever so slightly bumpy when it lands but it's in no way scary. DH said it looked from the ground like it was moving a fair bit back and forth but I honestly did not notice it up there. As for motion sickness again no issues and I can be bad for that and was totally fine.
