Characters at Wilderness Lodge Lobby

When leaving our resort 5/12, we walked into a huge surprise of 6 characters around the lobby for a meet and greet. They had Mickey, Donald, Daisy, Smee, penguin from Mary Poppins, and Pinocchio. There was absolutely no waits for each of the characters and it was an extremely magical way to end our trip. I had no idea this even happens at the resorts! Is this something new?

It happened at Riviera last August. A van pulled up and a few of them got out. Total surprise for us as well.

WOW! That sounds like something different. Not that we've that much WL experience to know.

That'd be really cool if Mary P and a penguin showed up at the GF or especially near the penguin fountain at VGF1.

In all my DVC stays, I saw Donald at Stormalong Bay once. He was waving at everyone from the bridges.

At Thanksgiving we saw characters a couple of times at Wilderness Lodge.... they walked thru the lobby but then had them waiving from the little deck off the lobby (social distancing so you couldn't go up to them).

That’s how they did it at Riviera last year. I think that character greets was on the resort schedule but I could be wrong.

Back a few years ago on a rainy day when I was sitting in AKL lobby reading while the boys were in the gym, Tigger and Balou showed up. I basically had them all to myself for about 10 minutes before only a few more people showed up. Tigger even had me dance with him and his helper filmed it on my phone. It was great!
