I'm certainly not a newbie to disneyworld; however, we are park people. I plan all day to be in the parks-we leave right after breakfast and stay til after fireworks or nightime shows then we head back to the hotel to sleep. This is the first trip that we are staying in a deluxe hotel and we have 2 days planned to be at the resort. I am really excited about the AKL. Can anyone tell me if characters come to the resorts day/evening-at all to meet & greet?? My kids really love their autograph books and thye will be losing out on 2 days worth of signatures. I know this may seem trite but to a 6 and a 4 yr. old this is the biggest deal you can imagine. Thanks alot!;)

I think the only characters at the WDW resorts are at the meals.

We've seen non-meal characters at Disneyland Paris resorts, but I don't recall any at WDW.

The only characters at the resorts are the charater meals. That is the ONLY way we will get autographs, my kids have decided that they won't waste park time standing in line to meet some one they can meet at a meal.

Now granted not all characters have meals and those that don't the kids will wait for in the parks.

You can get Mickey and his gang at Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary, Goofy in surf clothes at BC, Cindy and her gang at the GF for dinner, Alice and her buddies at GF for b-fast (Mary Poppins is there too).....Stitch at Poly.

I know there are probably others, but those are the big ones that come to mind.

Something tells me that once the kids get a taste of "resort day", your touring style will change forever:goodvibes . We started out your way and now we are 6 days in WDW, 2 days of park people..... and LOVING EVERY MINUTE OF IT

This will be their 4th trip-since we live in FL now its nice to weekend-it up there-so I think to pay all this money for the resort-we've been to the parks plenty of times-we should enjoy some resort time-and September is so hot here-they'll want to swim-i was just hoping they could see some characters. Thanks!

We have been to Disney several times but I have only seen characters at the lobby of Yacht Club Resort in December 2006. Every morning during our stay there we saw either Mickey, Goofy, Minnie or Donald Duck with their Christmas outfit. Also during our stay at CR in May 2007 we saw Captain Hook and Goofy around the pool.

Mickey and Minnie were at AKL Easter morning and may also show up there Xmas morning, but not otherwise.

AKL is a wonderful resort with a great pool and lots of things to do for your children. Once they get involved with stuff there (including seeing the animals), I expect that they will quickly forget about getting more autographs.

this is something that i looked for at por. we have been to disneyland twice, and both times there were characters in the lobby to keep the kids occupied while i checked in. it was so cool to look at the tv viewing area and see my kids watching tv with aladdin. we stayed at paradise pier and disneyland hotel and both times the characters were in the lobby.

We saw Stitch at the Yacht Club late in Aug. of '07. It was the middle of the day and he was bowling in the lobby with some kids. We've stayed at the Yacht Club twice and this was the only time we saw a character. Don't know if he was there for some special occasion. We stayed at the Polynesian and have visited AKL and GF and Contemporary and have never seen characters other than at character meals.

When we've stayed at the GF, I've always been struck by how often we've seen The Mice.

It's a big place for weddings, of course, and part of the Disney package includes (for a fee, of course) a visit from M&M. I guess a lot of people opt for that. And so you often see them being led by their handlers to receptions...but they almost never stop to say hello.

We got autographs & pics with them on Christmas Eve 2007 right in the lobby of AKL. They were dressed in their holiday outfits!

It would be nice if characters visited resorts on a regular basis.

I remember seeing Goofy waterski years ago! I'm talking many years (20+ years ago), though it was fun to see. :goodvibes

Saw Mickey Mouse in the lobby at the Yacht Club. He signed the autograph books and it was a very pleasant surprise as we were leaving for our morning at the park. There were not a lot of children there, so there wasn't a mad rush to the mouse. My dd took all the time she wanted with him.:goodvibes
