Character wake up calls

It seems that I remember either reading or hearing this... can this be arranged prior to the trip? My kids are old enough that this wouldn't be a big deal but my nieces and nephews would love it for our GG next June! Any info would be appreciated...

Each night, before you go to bed, you can set this up on your resort phone. There's a specific button for "wake up calls."

When we were at Pop 2 weeks ago, they were no longer doing the character wake up calls. I have heard it is that way at all the resorts now. It is only some annoying music.

I don't know about wake up calls at WDW but someone on the budget board posted that the disney movie rewards website is offering a free Disney Enchanted Phone Call under member benefits/special offers(?). I did it yesterday and set up a call from Mickey the morning that we leave on our WDW trip. Mickeys says something like I heard you are going on a special trip today and some other comments.

We just got back from Caribbean Beach and we did the wake up call every morning and we got Stitch and Mickey everyday-my kids loved it!

Truthfully, if it is the same awful wake-up call as it was last year when we were there with Stitch screaming in my ear (I switched to using my phone alarm after two days of that annoying scream), I would rather have just music.

This is the wake-up call message we got at the BWV in 2006. Of course, it sounded more like Stitch trying to choke Mickey (see my trip report link below for more details).

It's still pretty cute...assuming that they're still doing it. And if they aren't...why would they stop?
