Character Meets

It has been 10+ years since we have been on a Disney cruise. Do all the character meets require a ticket or just select ones? We will be traveling with two 5 year olds. Are there some must dos? Thanks a bunch!

Just Princess Gathering and Frozen require tickets at this point. (I personally would not be surprised to see Jack Sparrow go to a ticketed meet as the past two Disney cruises I've been on, the line to meet him closed even before he got there.)

The princesses usually do some individual greets like others, but if meeting them is definitely important, do the gathering. Frozen is pretty much only by the ticketed event.

Only the Princess gathering and Frozen gathering require tix. You can book them in advance when doing online checkin or there may be some tix still available upon boarding the ship. Also, if you are on a 7 nt or longer cruise, you can book a free character breakfast during online checkin. The rest of the characters you just stand in line for. I'd recommend getting in line 10 minutes before the start time for any 'popular' ones as they are only out for a short time. All the characters are great and personable--it really depends upon what your family likes. You may also just randomly see characters about the ship. My girls were 12 and 16. We did the Alaska cruise and wanted to see the characters in their Alaskan clothing, so we tried to make sure we saw them those days. We also really wanted to meet Jack Sparrow as he only meets at Disney World during Halloween parties. Oh, and the character attendants can take a picture for you, using your camera. (The Shutters people will use their camera and you can buy those pics later if you want for lots of $--we resisted temptation and didn't even look at those pics!)

Thanks! We are just doing a 4 night cruise with a few days at Disney. I just can't give up my Disney World trip all together.
