Just wondering how Solo people have handled a Character Meal. I've booked some but am wondering how do you handle getting pics of yourself with the roaming Characters? I'm gonna get a Autograph Book but I want the pics with the Characters too!

This might be an issue. I think you could ask the waiter/waitress or someone sitting near you. I would think most people would be accomodating. This is my biggest complaint about the character meals. It would be nice if they had photopass photogs there. But I would think most people would be willing to take a pic for you if asked, I know I would.

I've done character dining solo several times. For the most part, getting pictures with the characters is not too bad. I've either asked the character attendant (if they are nearby), the server (again, if nearby), or a nearby guest. All worked fine.

You've got the right answer - the handler, another guest, a CM, or the other character if the characters are in duos and the hands allow the functioning. We've even had the other character take a photo when we were able to do it - the level of service at WDW is wonderful even if it has declined.

If the restaurant is not busy it always helps to let your server know that you are dining solo and would like pictures with the characters. I have never had a problem if I let someone know at the beginning with someone showing up right as characters arrive to snap photos.

Unless there is someone obvious handy(like a handler), I just hand my camera to the character and say "I'd love to have my picture taken with you. WHo can we get to do it?" and the character always runs over to someone else, either a server or sometimes just a nearby guest, and motions to take our picture. No one dares say "No!" to Mickey (or friend) and it can make for some real funny memories for them too ("You wouldn't believe it! We were just eating breakfast when Mickey ran up to us and .....)

I drive my family crazy...I love to stop and take pictures for people whether in a group or solo. Everybody should have a momento of their trip.

Thanks for the advice/tips!

I love the tip about handing the camera to the character!

My favorite place to eat a character meal, since I collect the cookie jars, etc over the years is Chef Mickey's...I have done alot of the other character meals over the years solo too....I have NEVER had any problems getting pictures, in fact I think the CMs at alot of the WDW restaurants go out of theur way to make sure a solo gets the whole Disney experience. Minnie has even taken my camera off the table, taken me by the hand, went to find Mickey & a CM and I got a picture with them both at the same time...a rare occurence! I have had the same experience at the Poly breakfast and with the characters at 1900 Park....A true joy for a 54 yr old "kid" that has been accused of having Mickey heads on the atrands of her D N A :rotfl2:

You will have a ball :wizard:

Note to self: Have Camera on table while at Character Meals at 1900 Park Fare, Crystal Palace and Chef Mickey's

Anybody nearby will help. Everyone at the character meal wants to be with the characters, they understand, and it is no imposition at all. Also there usually are enough CM nearby to assist. Your photos should be 9th or 10th on your list of concerns.

Well photos are closer to 3 on my list.
