character meals for boys

I have 3 and when we go they will be 5,7 (almost 8) and 10 so princess or pooh and frinds are out for us.

What do you suggest would be best place to take for a character meal? We were thinking of getting one of the later breakfast resies (if possible) but are open to suggestions.

My DS is 8 and his favourite character meal was the breakfast at Ohana's with Lilo, Stich, Mickey, Pluto. Great food there too. We loved Cape Mays too, Donald's at Tusker House was good too, Chef Mickeys was ok and he was a bit past Crystal Palace but still got up for a photo with the characters at my insistance, but the favourite was Ohana's for breakfast. He actually liked Garden Grill too as Chip really clowned around with him for ages, but I believe that meal has changed.

Thanks for the tips. years ago (before the kids) Dh and I went and ate at the Garden Grill and really had fun w/ the Characters there also. Some of these I had not hear of so I will have to check them out.

I have 2 boys who were 9 and 7 the last time we went and they loved all the character meals. They loved Chef Mickeys and even Crystal Palace. We are going back in May and my boys will be 13 and 11 years old (they grow up so fast!) and my 13 year old said he wanted to go back to Crystal Palace again...not for the characters, because he loved the food there. LOL. I am going to try to get an ADR for early in the morning at Crystal Palace so we can get into MK before it opens and see Main street empty. The boys think that will be really cool. We are also going to try Ohanna's at the Poly with Mickey, Lilo, Stitch and Pluto. I think they will like that one a lot.

I was also thinking of doing a fun restaurant with the boys. WCC at the Wilderness Lodge has a fun meal that the boys should like. I do not know if you are on the DDP but T-Rex in Downtown Disney should be fun but it is not on the DDP. Sci Fi Drive In at HS is also a fun place for all kids.

Hi,

We just got back from Disney in November and had 2 character meals. One was breakfast at Chef Mickey's and the other was dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern (they are no longer doing character meals). We LOVED Chef Mickey's. Even pre-kids, it's always been our favorite. The atmosphere was great and the character interaction was great as well. The characters there were Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy and Donald. The food is wonderful-a huge selection and it's actually good. They serve honey dipped donuts, Mickey waffles, breakfast pizza (with scrambled eggs, bacon and cheese-yummy), pastries, bacon, peanut and jelly pizza), frest fruit salad, eggs, bagels, pancakes, etc. I think you will all love it! I really wish they had a Toy Story character meal. My son LOVES Buzz. But alas, nope...

Thanks going to have a hypothetical talk w/ the boys soon about what they would like. Tell them we don't know when we are going (sort of true) and get their thoughts on some of this stuff. Until we have details we are not telling them any thing. They are breakfast eaters and sounds like Chef Mickey might be good b/c they can fill up on heavy food. It's a buffet right? Is a late resi (towards the end) a good idea. We thinking of doing some stuff first and having this almost like a early lunch. Our room will have a kitchen so most breakfast will be in the room before we go to the parks.

I'm glad you made this post because I'm going in April with my boys, almost 4 and 7. I've been wondering about character meals because most don't seem like they'd appeal to them. The Ohana one I think we might do because they do like Lilo & Stitch. I think they need more meals targeted for boys!

Also, are there any good Cars things in the parks?

Oooh, I'm going to keep watching this post too. My son will be 5 when we go and I'm struggling with a character meal too. Girls get to have all the fun. LOL
