I'm a little confused about which character meal character meal i should go for. I'm going in June with my BF. We (I mean I would) like to do one of the character meals. Which one is worth the 1 TS credit? I'm looking for some good fun and good food. Or they all about the same?

Ummm which characters do u want to see? And what hotel are u staying at? Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner? Heh its hard to just throw one out there without knowing that other stuff..Also do u perfer to go to one at a resort or park

Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary Resort gets my vote. It's 1 TS credit.

It's a 10 minute walk from the Magic Kingdom or you can hop on the monorail to get right into the resort.

Usually there are Mickey, Minnie, Chip, Dale, Donald, & Pluto or Goofy (not sure which one..my kids hate that I can't tell them apart!)

This place is loud & fun. We eat there for dinner twice each trip!!

They also take your picture (with props) upon entry.
We always buy the picture package.

My boyfriend and me went to the Cape May Breakfast and it was really nice!

If you want something quiet, go to Cape May.
If you want totally Mickey fun, fo to Chef Mickey's.
If you want to see Pooh and friends, Crystal Palace is really good!

We have been to several character meals, denner at CM, and Breakfasts at CP, DB, and one that was a paddlewheel baot a long time ago, which I thnk is not there anymore, or is and is something different. Anyway, that was the worst. My favorite was CP for breakfast, nice buffet selection, and lovely location. Plus you are in the park early!

But I guess it depends on what meal you want. For a breakfast I would do a park restaurant.

We did CM, LTT, and CP last year all for dinners. Crystal Palace had the best food. Characters are great but it's the pooh characters so if you prefer Mickey then I'd have to say Chef Mickey's . We did CM on our first night there and it was a wonderful kick off to the rest of the trip. We got a really cute family picture done there too. The food is not exactly fantastic, but it really is a good time.

LTT is also great. We did feel rushed at LTT though and the Characters to me seemed rushed also.... well....I'd say atleast Mickey and Minnie did. I kinda remember the others goofing around with the kids quite a bit. The food at LTT was pretty good once again not fantastic or anything special. CP definitely won the top food award.

We are trying 1900 Park Fare and The Garden Grill Character Meals this year also so we'll be doing 5 character meals this year. :woohoo:

Oh... and all the Character Meals are 1 TS credit except for the CRT!

I've only done Crystal Palace so far, but it was so good that I'm actually scared I'd be wasting a TS if we used the credits to try Chef Mickey's this time instead.

I just can't imagine the food could be better at another buffet!

We are trying Chef Mickey's for Breakfast this year. Then we can hop on the monorail and head straight to MK- what a great way to start the day. I just hope my husbands doesn't flirt with Minnie too much, lol.

If there is one character meal that encompasses everything that Walt Disney himself would have liked for you to experience, it would have to be Chef Mickeys. Listen to all these other Disboarders! They know from where they speak!

You MUST take the monorail into the Contemporary Resort (Walt wanted you to do this!) and have your picture taken professionally before entering the eating area.

The buffet is outstanding! Every type of meat, fish and poultry you could want (not to mention the peel and eat shrimp!!! MmmmM!) And wonderful desserts including "make it yourself" sundaes! Oh wait, you're going for breakfast! Well, it can't be any worse than any other buffet breakfast, I bet it's got even more stuff!

The character interaction here is "different" compared to other meals. At others, the characters come up to your table and hang around taking pictures and then move on to the next table. That happens here too, BUT and it's a bit BUT, they also get the entire crowd in on some raucous singing and dancing and napkin twirling.

Trust us..........Chef Mickeys. You're done! :smooth:

From my experience you can't go wrong with a character meal, we're going for 7 nights, I've got 7 character meals booked the food was excellent (espically at the 1900 Park Fare) and it was a highlight of my kids trips, and can't wait to get there in 3 more weeks!!

Maybe I'll do it instead of Crystal Palace after all, just for a change. I know I'll like it no matter what, I'm just nervous that it won't live up to my expectations after eating at CP. The food at CP was not the typical buffet food...the meats were all standard carvings, but the salads and veggies were very unique and the desserts were to die for. Sure, they served the typical ice cream with sundae toppings, but they also had coconut flan, key lime pie, tiramisu, red velvet cheesecake, boston cream pie, peanut butter pie, and the list goes on and on...

There was certainly a lot of character interaction as well, although it may be less than Chef Mickey's (I don't know for sure, since I haven't done CM yet). At CP the characters parade around the restaurant with the children and tigger jokes with kids and adults a lot (like "stealing" something off of the table as he's walking past).

I guess I'm willing to give up the guarantee of excellent food at CP in order to try something new...

Great thread....it'll be our 1st time to WDW in May and we will only be doing 1 character meal as we are on a very tight budget. We're trying to decide which on to do as well!!! my kids don't eat alot at breakfast so we may do the dinner at CM. How is ther breakfast at CM if we go late...is it only breakfast food or do they also offer stuff like fried chicken? The only reason I ask is that once very couple of month's we take the kids out for a late breakfast at the Old Country Buffet near where we live and they offer desserts and salads and fried chicken along with the breakfast items. Any hlep's appreciated!

I will 2nd (3rd? 4th?) Chef Mickey's!

If I were only scheduling one character meal, it would definitely be Chef Mickey's! It's the quintessential Disney experience! Since it's in the middle of the Contemporary Resort (1 of the original Disney resorts) w/ the monorail running right above the restaurant, the atmosphere is very cool. All the traditional characters are there - Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Chip, & Dale for breakfast, & I think Donald is there as well for dinner. And it's a very fun atmosphere - singing, napkin twirling...

At breakfast, you can get Mickey waffles!

We have done both for breakfast and dinner at least 3 times each. Chef Mickey's is the winner hands down! This year we are trying 1900 Park Fare.

It's Goofy mom, not Pluto!!!!

wow! thanks guys!

I was stearing away from chef mickeys but now i just may go! It sounds like a lot of fun!

Picking and making ADRs is hard. Sometimes i want to go someplace for the food and other times i want the experaince (ie sci fi and prime time). Its hard to find both
