Need some helpful advice. I will traveling with:
Father 48
Mother 48
Godson 9
DS 3 (almost 4)
and
DH 37

My Father and DH are not really into it, but I want to do mine and my ds first Character Experience. I am a Pooh nut, as you can tell from my name and DS shirt below. :teeth: I think CP with an early ressie to get in the park early would be a good bet. I get  from the two guys when I talk about it. Is there something that might everyone enjoy more? Or should I stick my orginal plan? I think they will melt when they see DS getting excited about seeing Pooh and Friends (me too, for that matter) Also, my Godson is too cool for any of this. (so he says, but I think in Disney he will really start to get into it)
Thoughts? Advice?
Thanks!
Melissa

When my son was 3 we took him to CP for the first time. He LOVED it! We were on of the first families in for dinner & he got so much attention. Piglet held him & played with him! He chased after Pooh & ran around with Tigger! It was such fun! Now my 9 yo son didn't enjoy it very much, he said it was for babies! :earseek:

we are taking DD4 and DS8 to Chef Mickeys. Figured DS would be more into Mickey than princesses or Pooh.

We did Chef Mickey's and CP. We did Chef Mickeys the first night we arrived and everyone went. DH, me, my dad, his wife, and our boys. It was great. The kids warmed up to the characters. The food was great. The mashed potatoes were to die for! The grandparents enjoyed watching the boys with the characters. We had a 8:30 PS, we got there early and rode the monorail look and then after dinner we walked around the hotel and then watched Wishes from the viewing platform. It was a great introduction to Disney. We also had PS for CP at 8:00AM before MK opened. It was pretty cool I must say to walk down Mainstreet USA when it was pretty much desserted. We got a picture of the boys in front of the castle on Mainstreet with no one in the background. When we got home and showed our pictures to some of our Disney crazed neighbors, they commented on that picture. They were surprised. Anyway, the food at CP was the one of the best breakfast buffets ever. It was pretty crowed and it took the characters awhile to come through, but we saw them all. Almost left without seeing my favorite Tigger, but he came through right before we left. The boys were pretty tired for this early morning PS. DS4 enjoyed it more than DS2, he was really tired. This one we just did with our immediate family. My dad and his wife are not early risers. They met us at the park later. I would like to do just one character meal next time to save money, but I honestly don't know which one I would cut out. Sorry so long, hope it helps.

Our favorite is the lunch at the Crystal Palace. Great food that the guys will like, air conditioned and don't forget Pooh & friends. If you have one of the first PS's for that meal then ask for your DS to be the "Chef of the Day". You need to ask when you check-in and after they call your name. It is a great experience if he is chosen.

1900 Park Faire at the Grand Floridian

This one is at a resort and does not require park admission so this could be a plus if you have limited park days, if not, it is right on the monorail so very convenient. It has a lot of Characters and a variety of them which may appeal to different people in your party. When we went on 5/29 there was
Pooh, Eyore, Marry Poppins, Alice, Mad Hatter and Meg (from Hercules). In the past there was Tigger instead of Eyore. The food is very good and includes the Mickey waffles

I agree with previous posters to try Crystal Palace or 1900 Park Fare - both have a reputation for great food and wonderful character interaction. Liberty Tree Tavern and Garden Grill are also supposed to be good ones.

Other character meals are more harried and not always quite as magical from what I've read, especially the princess meals.

My daycare parents took their son to CP and absoluately loved it and can't say enough about it.

We on the other hand have decided to do CM as I think there might be more action there and more fun for the entire family.

Liberty tree tavern. I think the atmosphere would appeal to anyone and the character interaction was "just enough"-not too little or too much. The food wasn't the best but that's another story...
Also, although it's been a few yars, the Cape May cafe was very good-including the food!-Did breakfast there.
I personally did not enjoy CP-felt rushed and the restaurant itself felt too wide open for my taste.
BTW, have you posted this on the restaurant board?

first choice would be chef mickey's. my young ones loved it and the characters hammed it up with my teens also. food was good. lots and lots of character interaction. they even made sure and asked us if we saw the characters enough. mickey, minnie, goofy, donald, chip and dale.
