Character meal for teen

cinderellas step sisters at 1900 park fare (dinner) are hysterical and very likely to play up the fact that he's single and could be their prince. they made our meal there the most hysterical experience we've ever had on our christmas trip in 2008. on the other hand at the other character dining places where there are princesses you can tell him he gets to take his pictures with hot women. if you do chef mickey's it's all the classic characters and who can pass that up if they've never been to wdw before. crystal palace is winnie the pooh and likely to young unless he was a big fan as a kid.

We have the hoop-de-doo booked, it is a must for our family. I have also booked Crystal Palace. Found out today he has never been to Disney and we are so excited to get to share this trip with him! He even told me the character meal sounds like fun.

Everyone is a kid again at Disney!!

I agree with your statement that everyone is a kid again at disney! I think you have some good choices! Like I stated earlier, my son is 15 1/2 and still enjoys the character meals. He goes with the flow and has fun! I always get him to pose for pictures at the meals!

Teens are so different, so it's difficult to predict what another teen would like. Our pre-teen boys still love Garden Grill, and my younger brother enjoyed it throughout his teen years and still today (he's in his early 30's now.)

I know some teen boys who loved 1900, and others who weren't into the humor. Same with Hoop-De-Doo. Our pre-teen boys think Crystal Palace is for little kids, and would not want to do a princess meal. Our oldest doesn't like Chef Mickey's because he thinks it's chaotic and he doesn't enjoy the food. But again, my brother has always been up for anything and enjoyed all of it!

As a previous poster mentioned, Garden Grill may be a good bet for a teen if you're not sure of his preferences. It's low-key, the food is plentiful and because it's not buffet, teens are not mingling with the little kids. (If you have a lower level booth, you barely even see the other diners.)

Sorry folks .. BUT my DSnow18 who LOVES Disney would beg to differ...

He has been to WDW 10 times... so some of his preferences may have to do with Tradition....

however... since he is asleep now and I can't ask (but have asked him before)... here are what I think would be his thoughts...

1. CRT... DS is Greeted by a Beautiful Princess... gets a pic with her... then given a sword and shown into the Castle which is the Center of the MK...plus the Symbol for it. He can order delicious food whilst being called "Prince"... my DS LOVES CRT

2. 'Ohana's .... DS LOVES 'Ohanas... the polynesian food.... Stitch...Mickey Minnie...

3. Now that DS is older... I'll add in these... DS's FAVORITE meal at WDW is Teppan Edo. He now loves anything asian and Sushi...so Cali Grill is a great choice....

Hope you all have a wonderful trip !

Mary

This is exactly how my DS, 17 (6'4", size 15 shoe, beginning to grow facial hair) feels. We have taken him to WDW 11 times, and he has told me many times..."you know, mom, you never outgrow the characters." So, true! I love the characters and I am 48! Now, I will admit we don't do as many character meals as we used to, and we certainly don't get autographs anymore but we ooh and aah when we see characters anywhere and a family favorite remains a meal at CP with Winnie the Pooh and gang.
