We're aware of Goofy's Kitchen as a place for a character dinner. (We're Chef Mickey fans, so we expect we would like Goofy's, too.) However, what other lunch/dinner character meals are there to find? No princesses, please. I have 3 school-aged sons. And, no breakfasts as we're at the Residence Inn and planning to use their breakfast service.

The only other lunch or dinner option is Captain Mickey at Ariel's Grotto in California Adventure. Unlike Goofy's Kitchen, this is a fixed price meal instead of a buffet. So for a set price you get to choose an appetizer, entree, dessert and drink. I've had lunch when it was still Ariel as the main character and was not really impressed. The food wasn't bad, just nothing outstanding. I don't know if they changed the menu when it switched over to a Mickey meal.

We went to Ariel's grotto just last friday for dinner. Overall we liked it. I would agree that the food was average and nothing special. However, table service was pretty good and much better than the buffet at Plaza inn we had the same trip. The character interaction was pretty good. We saw, Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Chip and Dale, and I think there were a few more. They came up to our table many times and even led the chidlren away to an area (within sight of our table) for many dance activities (limbo, etc.) They also paraded around the restaurant with the children. My daughter (age 3) loved it! It was the only meal we had during the whole trip that appeared worth the money we paid for it! (again, more for overall enjoyment, than for fantastic food). With table service, I was even able to sit at the table and somewhat enjoy my meal (although my husband and I took turns following our daughter as she danced around with the characters).

I would definitely recommend this for dinner. We did not even have priority seating and we did not have to wait too long for a table.

lisaflores- I haven't been able to find a menu for this restaurant. I'd love to know what some of the entree choices were for dinner. Any memories will be great help!!! My dh and I don't have children yet, but this seems very reasonably priced...and we're kids at heart. Also, I have seen some pictures that looked very "under the sea" as far as the decor. Is this the same, or did they change things for the new characters??? Thanks in advance!!! Renessa

We were there on Friday evening for dinner too (at Ariel's Grotto)....I really recommend this character dining....no princesses! Every ten minutes there was a character (Fab Five + Max) that visited us!

The adult menu ($20.99) offered fish & chips, chicken pot pie, 1/2 lb burger, penne pasta, meatloaf. The appetizer was soup or salad. And then we had the chocolate cake for dessert.

The kids menu ($13.99) had chicken nuggets, corn dogs, and i can't remember the rest. sorry! the kids menu comes with a beverage, beach bucket & shovel, soup or veggie sticks and cotton candy.
