Are the character interactions up close or still long distance? Seems all is back to normal at the parks.

I am not a cruise expert, but I am guessing it's more to keep the cruise staff safe and healthy. There are only so many CM's on the ship and if they all get sick then that means no or fewer character meet and greets. Distanced is better is than none.

THIS!! It's one thing to have to sub out servers or ship maintenance/engineers... but with the entertainment, it's not like the friend of Goofy can sub in for the friend of Mickey, or the friend of Cinderella can sub for the friend of Tiana. There is also special training for the Mickey that flies in on Pirate night.

It’s disappointing that they aren’t back yet on the ships, but I do agree it could have to do with health and safety. There are very close living quarters, I’ve seen so many post about people getting off the cruise and having Covid still. Hopefully they will be back soon, I know for us I don’t see the point in doing a photo package until they are back. Yes you can still get a picture with the character but it’s not the same as actually being able to hug a character and have a non socially distanced interaction.

Getting there! I know in late April it was still pretty distanced on the fantasy. We will be on the fantasy again in October so we shall see what that brings.

On the Magic now and there is still distancing. They have a spot to stand on and no hugs or high fives. It’s still awesome seeing how excited the kids get, as their enthusiasm is not at all dampened.

Becsuse this Covid variant is very contagious and if entertainment CMs have to quarantine there will be fewer meet and greets and possible canceled shows. You can’t just call someone in from land to fill in like you do in WDW.

Exactly, they even already have bigger casts dor that reason. During my cruise Tiana and Cinderella disappeared about halfway into the cruise…

Oh, they were probably working in the kitchen or scrubbing the floors. nothing to be worried about here

We are stuck with our cruise in Oct, can't cancel without losing almost everything (long story). Extended family has an excited 2 yrs old and an excited 4 yrs old. I'm not sure how we'll keep the 2 yrs old away. So sad.

Just back from Paris and there were a lot of characters available for hugs! Definitely much better than what DCL is offering.

We are stuck with our cruise in Oct, can't cancel without losing almost everything (long story). Extended family has an excited 2 yrs old and an excited 4 yrs old. I'm not sure how we'll keep the 2 yrs old away. So sad.

We told our 2 year old to go the the Mickey circle to meet the characters and he did awesome. Stood right in the middle of the dot and enjoyed meeting the characters. If you don't make a big deal out of it the 2 yo won't know any different.

Yes, Paris is back at its normal level where characters are concerned. But it always had less characters than WDW. This is basically it.

A cruiseship is not a park unfortunately.

Has the two year old met characters before? It might not be an issue. My two year old is still too timid to go near the characters. We have only done two up-close meet and greets (Goofy and Pluto) and he wanted me to hold him for each.
