Character Experience Improved!!!

Has anyone else noticed just how much the Character Experience at DL has improved. The personalities have gotten so much better and they interact so much more with all of the children (and adults too for that matter)!!!

From parding down main street almost every morning at 9 with Alice, all of her friends and the DL band, to playing musical chairs with them later in the day, to playing "lost boy, lost boy, pirate" with Wendy, Peter Pan and Capt Hook, to playing Red Rover with the characters, to riding the Carosel with Mary Poppins and Bert, to riding Autopia with Alice and her friends, to riding the Story Book ride with Snow White, and the list goes on and on and on

DL has always been a magical place but "turning 50" really does wonders to a person!!!

Thanks DL for some of the greatest memories ever!!!

I've noticed that there are a lot more characters around in general, even on the slower days! That has been great for my kids, since we usually avoid the more crowded days.

We were in DCA in March and all of the sudden Snow White came up to us. We were thrilled. Then comes Belle and then Cinderella. I'm glad my 2 yr old was wearing a diaper because I'm pretty sure she peed her pants!!

Snow White kissed my 2yr old on the cheek and she wouldn't let me wash it for 3 whole days.

There are so many more characters these days. I just LOVE it!!!

We've only been once, in December last year, so I can't compare, but we thought the characters were excellent.

All gave our kids a lot of time and put a lot of effort in - Ariel combed their hair with a fork, Snow White spoke to them in that high pitched voice, Mary Poppins sang spoonful of sugar, Bert spoke to them in that very bad cockney accent, Aladdin and Jasmine talked flying carpet technique with them and Goofy stole their pen and then chased after us.

We were there in August and saw many characters with good interaction with everyone I observed. There must have been 8 of them at Goofey's kitchen. A lot of fun for the kids.

Is it still a push and shove to see them? That is one thing I can not stand to see parents pushing children so there child can see the person.

No, not really! There are SO many characters around now that there is no reason to. Sometimes there gets to be a long line at the front at the beginning of the day when people see Mickey. I guess it is just something about just walking in and seeing the "big guy"

We were there on Thursday and noticed several times characters hopping on the rides. The Mad Hatter joined the people in back of us on Alice in Wonderland. Very cool!

The Mad Hatter recognized us from last year! We had met up with him last spring inside the park and had a fun time making a "perfectly unbalanced" arrangement for a photo op with our boys and my nephew.
Last trip in May we went to Goofy's Kitchen.. he stopped by and asked "Have we met before? You look so familiar", it was the same Mad Hatter!

I agree the character interaction has increased this year- we would be off to go on a ride and bump into characters in the oddest places. Peter Pan calmly sitting among some plants by the Matterhorn exit (no one noticed him there until we stopped to chat), Chimney Sweeps dancing and talking by the back side of the castle, dancing with Chip and Dale at TL stage .. not your usual meet and greet locations.

I went to Disneyland yesterday and I didn't notice too many characters (wasn't really looking though), but I did see Mary Poppins and Burt holding a little girls hand skipping towards the castle. The little girl had the biggest smile on her face, that must have been such a magical experience for her!!

It was the first time I had seen Burt and Mary Poppins was wearing her white dress.

A year ago my daughter ended up in a game of musical chairs with the Alice in Wonderland gang, after the character Alice was out, she held my daughters hand and walked around the chairs together singing how the two Alice's were going to win, it was so cute, wish I had a video camera with me.

It's become more controlled whenever we wanted pics with Mickey. The last time was on my actual birthday and I wanted a pic with him all day long! Ended up seeing him at 10 p.m. near the Mad Hatter's Hat Shop on Main Street. I ran over and begged my mom and sister to get my picture. There wasn't a line, but more like people were grouped around him. When no one went up to him, I went up. A little boy followed me and Mickey waved to him happily. I waited and watched until the boy realized it wasn't his turn and he went back to his mom. The picture was taken, I kissed Mickey on the cheek and then I left! Basically, if no one makes the move to go up to the character, go for it!
