My DH would like to go to at least one character dining while we're there on his birhday. We do not have any children. Any suggestions? He loves Mickey and Goofy, so I am assuming Chef Mickey's is the best option. I have heard the one at Ohana's is wonderful as well. What would you suggest?

I think Chef Mickey's is a good option! We love it there for breakfast. It is a fun, lively breakfast. We did have dinner there once and weren't as impressed. It is the same as far as entertainment, characters, etc. Still, we love the breakfast food more. There is a celebratory feel on a regular basis which is great for a birthday. We've done many a birthday at this restaurant.

O'hana is a good breakfast. I like that it is served family style. I don't know for sure (it has been a while) that Mickey and Goofy are there. That would be the problem with picking that one. People who have been recently could let you know with more certainty who has been there recently. Of course characters are never guaranteed, but there would be trends to watch. O'hana also has a delicious dinner, but characters are not at dinner, so if you pick this one, you'd have to eat breakfast.

There are more dining options, but I am not sure which ones would have Goofy AND Mickey. I know Goofy is often at Cape May Cafe, but I don't think Mickey has been there when we've dined there. They both may be at Tusker House at AK. Again - not sure. And I would still vote for CM's for the atmosphere.

I guess after all this rambling I am saying that there are several options for good meals, but the BEST in our opinion is CM's. It should have the characters you want and a fun birthday experience.

We love eating with the characters (no kids for us yet) and hope you have a great time for DH's birthday!!! :thumbsup2

Lilo, Stitch, Mickey and Pluto are the usual characters at 'Ohana. Allears lists Mickey and Goofy together at Tusker House Breakfast. :)

The only ones that I think have both Mickey and Goofy are Tusker House at AK and Chef Mickeys. I haven't been to Tusker House since it went character, and it's been YEARS since I've visited CM, so I can't attest to either.

Both Chef Mickey and Donald's Breakfast at Tusker House are great.

If you don't want to waste park time pick Chef Mickey's or get Donald's before the park opens.

Isn't there character dining at Royal Palace as well? The thing is I've never been to a character meal. Every time I've gone we didn't do that...plus the dining plan didn't exist. So as you can tell I've got a lot to look forward to.

Hi this sounds like a post I just sent out, I put a poll out to see if people rather have breakfast at Chef Mickey's or Tusker House, I have 15 responses so far, 9 for TH and 6 for Chef Mickey's hoping for more to help my decision. My one DS 4 loves Goofy :goofy: and my other DS 9 loves Mickey :mickeyjum so same exact character love, my kids would say your DH is right on track for the love of the same characters, Mickey and Goofy rock:cool1: So my poll is on the restaurant board under Tusker House or Chef Mickey's? It also has a poll picture on the side to help you find it easier. Next time we go it will be their sister's turn, not for at least 5 years, and they will have to endure th raft of princesses. princess: Well good luck planning, hopefully our DISer friends will help us out with our decision. I'm glad this poll can be useful to two of use DISer's.

See? Proof positive.....I married a 4year old *sigh*. That's OK though, I love my DH and I love the fact that he loves Disney, too. I'm going to seriously "kid" him up for his birthday, too. Personalized ears, a personalize shirt from Disney proclaiming his birthday...the works :yay:

Our Character Meal favs w/o kids from best to worst:
me: CP (character and fried french toast on kid's table)
Chef Mickey
1900 PF
Askerhaus (although Belle is my favorite princess food not so great)
Ohana--likely wouldn't do again
GG--would never do again
DBF: CP (characters and made to order omellette)
Chef Mickey
1900 PF
Askerhaus
GG
Ohana

If you are looking specifically for Mickey, he appears at only six character meals:

Breakfast, lunch and dinner at Chef Mickey's
Breakfast at Tusker House
Breakfast at 'Ohana
Dinner at Garden Grill

He's with Goofy at Chef Mickey's, and Tusker House, so you are in the right direction with those two.

Chef Mickey's does guarantee you Mickey. However, it's often loud and crazy, with lots of kids running around (then again, it's WDW... must expect kids ). If you want something less chaotic, Ohana or Garden Grill (they bring the food to you at GG, so you don't have to deal with little kids running around the buffett) might be better choices.

You can find Mickey at Garden Grill but IMHO it is the worst of all character meals. We couldn't wait for all of the characters to come around so we could get out of there. It has to be the worst food in all of the 4 parks. We try to choose the ones our DSs will love based on characters. Chef Mickey's is their all time favorite.

Couldn't agree more about Garden Grill! Great characters and much better food at Chef Mickey's!
