Has anyone who has gone to WDW solo ever done character dining? I'm going solo in a few weeks and am wondering about doing a character meal. Thoughts etc would be greatly appreciated :)

Definitely! I like to do CP for an early breakfast before the park opens. I usually just wave to the characters as they pass my table but I still like to see them. Go and have a great time!

Oh my goodness! Go and enjoy and a lot of times they will sit with you at your table! Chip will even steal your food! I've been doing character meals for decades and a lot of times solo.....character handlers always very nice with the camera & other people sitting near you do the same I take a picture of their whole family & then my turn !

I've only done CRT solo and I had a very nice time. Though, I was a bit stressed out about taking pics, there was a very nice family next to me who were happy to take pics. :goodvibes

I don't think the charcers will make you take photos with them if you don't want to. If you just wanted to wave hi, you can do that too.

I really enjoyed the solo character meal I did in January! It was marathon weekend and it was FREEZING - so I grabbed a last minute ADR at LTT and had no idea they were doing character meals.

Chip and Dale both were so sweet - came over and stole my food and sat down with me to eat. They were fighting over which one I thought was best - it was great!

i have more than once! :) it's so much fun for me to meet characters, but i always am embarrassed asking people to take a photo for me. In Disneyland, I ate at Goofy's Kitchen, and my table neighbors were more than happy and even offered to take the pictures for me every time, i found so kind of them! and then I also ate at Ariel's Grotto (MY FAVORITE as far as food is concerned! that pasta is amazing!) they have these men dressed as footmen and one always ended up being relatively close to my table, and he was like if you need any photos taken for you, let me know. As far as in WDW, i've eaten at 1900 Park Fare, and that place is so big and busy, you'd probably have to ask someone to take a photo for you, and I also ate in Crystal Palace and the woman who made sure my diet coke glass was never empty was aware when characters were near to be there to take a photo for me which i found so accommodating! i kind of feel it depends on where you eat because some places are more timed with their characters (Cinderella's Royal Table, Ariel's Grotto and Crystal Palace are pretty well with guestimating your timing between characters) whereas 1900 Park Fare (or any meal with the Mad Hatter for that matter) is harder to predict, or Goofy's Kitchen i didn't realize just how many characters were at my meal - even on my way out i was spotting new characters added to the mix (Goofy has a LOT of friends apparently!)

but anyway i say if you're on the fence, definitely jump over to the good side and make that reservation! character dining is such a fun thing, and whats great about going solo is if you want to stay there for a whole hour, no one will be across from you kicking you under the table to go LOL

I never did Disney world solo, however I did Disneyland Paris solo a couple of times. Characters just love interact with you, as long as you give them something to interact about.
Just try, you will love it.

Thank you! I feel better now about going, as I was a little apprehensive about going because I wasn't sure how comfortable I would be . Going early makes a lot of sense. I'm really looking forward to going (I leave May 20th!)

I love your photos! I love Chip & Dale. Thank you for replying :) I feel much better now, after reading all the positive experiences. I think I'll definitely book one. I leave May 20th and so far I've found several available so I'll try and see if I can go there!

Thank you! I feel much about going now, after reading everyone's experiences and knowing that I can just say Hi :) I think part of my problem that I would get a bit stressed about photos, and become too shy about asking people to take to my photo.

I love Chip & Dale! Now I'm pretty much convinced that I need to go to a character meal!

Okay, now I'm basically thoroughly convinced! Thank you for so much info! I've heard good things about Ariel's Grotto.

What's DLP like? I've heard good things about it. I'm pretty sure I'm going to go for the character meal, after reading all the positive experiences.
