Character Dining - Adults only?

We do some character dining (ages 28,31,55,62) but could care less about the characters. We like to eat at Crystal Palace for the decor (love all of the glass) and nice views of the castle and we ask for a table close to a window or far away from the buffet and usually get a very nice, quiet table. We usually just wave and continue eating when the characters come around so they usually don't stop, just wave back. But there's plenty of adult only tables that enjoy interacting with the characters. The characters are very good about picking up on if you want to just keep eating or if you're looking to get pictures or interact.

I've done character dining pre-kids and absolutely loved it!

My favorite experience was with my parents, myself, and DH at Cape May Cafe. Let's just say that DH had a little too much fun with Chip and Dale and it made for a very memorable experience! :goodvibes

Before Tusker House there was a breakfast at AK called Donald's Breakfastasaurus. Featured Duck Mouse, Dog and Goof. My then dgf and I ate there. The Mouse was late. I was in full regalia. Donald walks in and sees my t-shirt and hat and gets excited. He comes over, points at my t, points at himself, and struts. Same thing with the hat. Then I showed him my watch, the only Donald Duck watch I'd ever seen at that time. Donald ran and dragged Pluto over. Pluto high-fived Donald. Then it was Goofy's turn. Just then Mickey made his grand entrance(stylishly late). Donald grabs his arm and points at me. t-shirt, Mickey nods. Hat, Mickey nods. But when Donald points at his wrist, points at me, then at himself, Mickey went ballistic. Marched past us with his nose in the air. Had the whole restaurantasaurus rolling.
Adults can go, and be a part of it all. Enjoy.

Am I the only one who read this thread title and half-expected it to be about something else? :rolleyes1

Go and have fun at character meals!

My sisters and I are 30-somethings without kids. We've got 3 character meals planned, and we are excited!! Part of the Disney experience includes characters, whether you seek out an interaction or not. If it sounds fun to you, then DO IT!!

Speaking to the "messiness" of kids at buffets, let me tell you that adults are messy too! Have you ever been to a buffet restaurant that wasn't messy? PEOPLE are messy, and spills are inevitable.

:earsboy:We've gone to Cinderella's breakfast with 25yr old and 21yr old. We all had a great time! I always like to go to a character meal when at Disney. You really do see a mix of ages. Enjoy!!!

Yep, I have to do at least one every trip to Disney, we are usually not the only ones and if we where who cares, I'll never see he same people each year I go and dine with the chracters :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

hi. we're two adults going back for our 8th visit. we even got married there in 08. we love disney world and the character meals are so important to us. we DO go for the food as well. the characters interact with us a lot. pluto led me to a chair, told me to sit, and then climbed on my lap. it was so funny and made a great pic, what a nice dog. chip sat down at our table, said he liked my DH's beard, i asked where's Dale and he said Dale smells bad and is crazy, all with sign language of course. i loved when i had my family there for my wedding, all adults, and it was great to get character pics with my dad and grandpa and sister. some places are chaotic with kids, but you'll have that at regular places too, some kids run around, but for the most part we've enjoyed our meals. i do tons of them. for my Sept trip we have 5 planned. :)

On my honeymoon last October, my husband and I had dinner at Garden Grill and breakfast at Tusker House and Cinderella's Royal Table. We had an amazing time at all 3 and we didn't feel out of place at all. In fact, my experiences with the characters ended up being my favorite memories of the whole trip. As far as I could tell, everyone was treated the same whether they had children with them or not.

I think Disney World is the perfect place for everyone to act like a kid again. If there is something you want to do, just do it and don't worry about what other people think.

Add us to the list of Adults only at character dining!! DH & I have done most of them on property. We take pictures with the characters and all. We know that when we go to this type of buffet there will be alot of children ,but it has never been a issue. It is fun to watch them with the characters. Once in a while i will tell a character to go past us if there is a little one really , really excited about seeing them. but otherwise the interaction with us is as fun as with the kids. Go , Enjoy!!

I agree...Disney Magic is for EVERYONE!! And the character dining is part of that magic! Even if you don't care to interact with the characters, it is nice to see them interacting with the kids. The food itself will vary from restaurant to restaurant, breakfast vs. lunch vs. dinner and from opinion to opinion. If you can get a breakfast at CRT I highly recomend it. It is hard to mess up breakfast food and eating in the castle is AWESOME!!! Get on www.wdwinfo.com and check out the menus, the characters in attendance, the venues and the reviews and pick one or two or all!! As for whether or not you will stand out not having kids with you....well I was watching my kids interact with Mickey and Belle and Pooh Bear (obviously not all at the same restaurant) so I wasn't looking for tables without kids so you wouldn't stand out to me!! Have a ball!!:goodvibes

We've been 'adults only' for years now. We're going in Oct. with 7 adults and have booked two character meals. Everyone has a blast and the characters pay as much attention to us as the younger 'kids'.

DH and I do character meals every trip. Last trip our character interactions at Crystal Palace were pretty non-existent, but we still planned to go again (though now it seems our next trip will not be adults only anymore :)

I go to the charactor meals solo. I don't take pictures with charactors. Not because I am an adult without children but becasue since I was knee high to a grasshopper I haven't liked having my picture taken.

No matter what anyone else has seen I say go for it !! It is Disney and it is your vacation....enjoy !!:thumbsup2
DH and I had stayed at GF and done the breakfast buffet at 1900 parkfare and the buffet at Cape May at BC. I have a great pic of DH and Pluto from Cape May....we now go with DS and enjoy the time with him and the characters and will continue at any age !!
