A fun thing to do is to have a character come to the room.

Saw this on another thread and didn't want to hijack it. Has anyone done this? How do you book it and how much does it cost???

Sorry -- couldn't resist --What will they do when they get there and how much is it? :rotfl2:

Hey I never know which character is coming in my room each night when my husband walks through the door... Gumpy,Goofy,or 99.99% of the time he is Prince Charming
Seriously I have heard of of private meets anywhere from 450.00-700.00 per hour but not in rooms.I am a dance teacher and we were planning a trip for our students a couple of years back(fell through but working on this JULY) anway a girl in my office brought this up in a meeting so I don't know where she found her information just call group dinning and if they still do it I'm sure they will give you the details . I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful with details and I hate just giving partial info but I would start with group dinning.I'm sure there is also an expert here that can help you on the boards I am never ceased to be amazed at how much info one can find here :teeth:

450.00 for the half hour and you can get it by dialing the entertainment number i believe..not sure about rooms but this is to get them to come to like a banquet room for weedings and stuff...you can call the regualr disney number and they should be able to give you the correct number. All they do is sign autographs and dance if there is music and take pictures the time FLIES

I have never heard of a character coming to your room.

I did just read in my new 2006 UG that you can rent them by the 1/2 hour for a wedding for the whopping sum of $675. You get a discount for 2 characters- it's only $1020 for 30 minutes. Yikes!! :teeth:

Maybe the OP was referring to a character "coming" to the room and leaving a gift for the child when you are out, like the Tinkerbell gifts alot of people do?

Oh my gosh, I can't believe how much this costs! $500+ for 1/2 hour?!
I wonder of the character just gets paid his/her usual few bucks or if there's some sort of bonus for a private appearance...seems like he/she should get a cut of that kind of money!

I don't think I'll be booking that anytime soon but it would be really neat for a very special occasion if I had the $$.

I don't think they get a bonus, but I think its priced so high as to discourage it being a regular event. Disney goes out of there way to make sure you don't see Mickey in a place he couldn't be because you just saw him - too many private character appearances and they'd have enough Mickey costumes to cover the park! I sort of doubt they'd visit a room - since there isn't a good way to get them discreetly in the hotel and characters get mobbed whereever they go - plus other kids wondering why Mickey visited your room and not theirs (similar to why the princesses don't hand your gifts to your child at breakfast).

Where do I sign up? I am ready, willing and able to become any character at that kind of money. I'll even dress up like any of the princesses but that may scare children with my beer belly and big mustache and bald head. (Note I call my self MrGrumpy not Prince Charming) :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Cheers
