Planning our first trip in May. We will be staying at the WL. We have two boys who will be 5 & 3-1/2. Which character breakfasts do you recommend? and what day of the week? We are arriving on a Friday. I have read it is good to plan the character meal early in the trip - so the kids get used to the characters. Well that would mean a Saturday or Sunday? Are these days more crowed then the week days?

I know some people might not agree with me, but I like Donald's character breakfast. The characters were very friendly (we had a late resevation, which was less crowded) and I thought the food was good. The breakfast pizza was really good also. The charcters we had were donald, goofy, minnie, mickey, and pluto. A lot of people like chef mickey's but I've never been there so I don't know. And I've heard good things about CP, who has the winnie the pooh chacters. And I don't know if you wanna do this but if you get a later breakfast then its not as busy, we had a 10:30 and it was practically empty.

Crystal Palace is our favorite breakfast for both the good food & the characters - this one is at MK & you'll see Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore & Tigger. This one is a must do on every trip for us.

Another favorite of many (including us) is Chef Mickey's at the Contemporary - usually has Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Chip & Dale & Goofy in the lobby.

'Ohana at the Polynesian has recently become another favorite of ours & now Stitch is there!! :teeth: It is Lilo, Stitch, Mickey & Pluto - the nicest thing about this meal is that it they bring the food to your table, so there is no rushing back & forth to the buffet to see characters & get refills. It is also usually quieter than some of the others & we generall get more character interaction here.

I am one that would NOT recommend Donald's at AK - we've had 2 poor experiences in a row & have decided not to do this one on our next trip.

The best advice I can give for character meals is to go to one of the first or last seatings for the best interaction - usually the restaurant isn't full at these times. :teeth:

There are also some great character dinners out there (Liberty Tree Tavern is our Fave) you might want to check out! ::MickeyMo

Thanks for the great advise. I like the idea of a sit down meal. Once my kids get up it's hard to get them to sit back down.

We went in July to CP. The characters were great, but the buffet style meal did not work well for us with little ones, dd 2, ds4. We are going to with the non-buffet character meals until they are older.

My children each get to pick a character meal this trip and we are doing breakfast for all of them. Mainly because according to the menus, my kids will actually eat the breakfast food offered. But on our last trip we did CP for dinner I believe, and the kids loved the interaction we had with the characters then. CP is one I would love to try for breakfast too, but none of the kids chose it, so I might have to choose it myself....LOL

I would pick either Donalds Breakfast in the AK, or Chef Mickeys at the CT.

The Animal Kingdom is best on Sunday

You could go to Chef Mickeys on a Saturday and hit the MK afterward.

Just throwing in my vote for the Cape May Cafe breakfast....my son and husband love it!

Another vote for Ohana! We started our vacation out with their character breakfast and it was great. I just wish that Lilo and Stitch would have been there at the time. The food is good and there's plenty of it; the character interaction is great. They also pass out maraccas (sp?) to all the children and do a parade every hour or so. Too much fun!!!

Not sure how I forgot to mention this one! :rolleyes1

This is another one of our favorites!! A great one to do on an Epcot or MGM morning - the buffet is huge & the food is delicious! It's great because the food is so good & the characters are fun, but it is a more relaxed atmosphere than some of the others. :)

Chef Mickey's and Crystal Palace are our favorites.

Chef Mickey's can be a little bit hit and miss. Sometimes it gets crowded, or you don't hit it right, and character interaction is sort of lame. But that's been rare for us -- maybe once that I can remember. When it's good, it's great!
