I have seen tons of videos of these things on YouTube but would like to experience one for myself. How do you go abouts doing this at Disneyland? How much does it cost, which places do it? What foods are offered? etc.

This link lists the locations for a character meal.
The cost varies between the locations and for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

You can book a reservation before your trip either by calling or online.
The link will let you read what is offered on the menu or buffet.

You can do a search to see opinions of the different ones.

There aren't a lot of character meals at DLR and most all are breakfast.
  • Plaza Inn (breakfast) - Minnie and friends (e.g., Fairy Godmother, Rafiki, Tigger, Eeyore, Max, etc.)
  • Ariel's Grotto (breakfast and lunch) - Princesses
  • Storytellers (breakfast) - Chip, Dale, and other woodland friends (Koda, Kenai, and Meeko)
  • Goofy's Kitchen (all meals) - Goofy and friends
  • PCH Grill (breakfast) - Mickey and friends (Daisy, Pluto, Stitch, and Minnie (sometimes)).
I would glance at the menus for the various breakfast buffets (or family style meals) to make sure they have things you'll eat. However, I would ultimately select the location based on which character(s) I wanted to see the most. I would recommend making a reservation if you know you want to dine at one of the character meals. Prices vary by meal and location.

Another thing to consider is time. We had a week in Anaheim so did a breakfast on a non-park day (only an option for those at one of the 3 hotels).

Minnie & Daisy cycled out for a break shortly after we got there and we had to wait a long time for them to return. I finally went to ask about Minnie and the lead/manager was in the process of placating a family who was obviously upset about the time. He ended up offering to get Daisy's signature back stage and I could see the dad was about to object but the girl happily accepted and handed over her book so the dad closed his mouth and looked grumpy. Minnie came out shortly after that but I think we waited another 15min or so for Daisy (the other family left before she came out). So probably 30 minutes after we had finished breakfast waiting to see the last two characters (total was around 2hrs). Obviously you could get there and see everyone very quickly, but it's worth it to think about the time it takes depending on how much time you have at the parks.

We have done breakfast w/ Minnie and Friends at the Plaza Inn in the past on each of our trips. We usually schedule for first in the morning. I am not sure if it is still holds true as it has been a few years since we've been, but in the past since we had reservations for first thing in the morning, a CM would meet us at the gates at the side entrance to the main entry gates (events/special.. I forget exactly what), and then they escort us to the Plaza Inn before the gates had opened. This was really nice because you could walk down Main Street with hardly anyone there except a couple other CMs and a few other people also heading for breakfast.

Another time it was before rope drop, but the gates were opened to let people in to Main Street. The CM still meet us at the gate, but since Main Street was packed, she lead us through through stores and what not to get around the crowds and the rope drop.

We are planning to do the same on our upcoming trip this October (reservation made!) :)

I can not find a price for ADULT breakfast at The Plaza Inn. :confused3
Help . . . TIA

To the left is a special gate open for early breakfast. We were not escorted.

Which of Goofy's friends are usually at Goofy's Kitchen?

We met Chip, Dale, Minnie, and Pluto. I believe they are the standard crew. You meet Goofy for a quick picture at the entrance before you are shown to your table.

Yeah, when we went last Oct, we went through that gate, which was nice because could bypass the long ticket lines. No one escorted us this time.

If you go to a character Breakfast in October, are the characters dressed in there halloween clothes?

When we were at the Plaza Inn last Oct, they were in their normal clothes. I haven't heard of any of them being in their Halloween clothes at any of the regular character meals, but then my 1st hand experience is pretty much just Minnie's breakfast at the Plaza Inn. Know they had the evening special event: "Mystical Spirits of the Blue Bayou", but I am not sure if any of the characters were specifically dressed up for Halloween at that one - Dr. Facilier and friends were just their "normal" spooky selves... not sure who else.. maybe the Cadaver Dans count as being dressed up :) ) That would be pretty cool to have some special event breakfast where could have the regular characters in their Halloween clothes. I'd think think that would be pretty popular. But like I said, my first hand knowledge pretty much deals with the Minnie breakfast, so if anyone else knows differently, I'd like to know too!
