Which character breakfast has the best food? Which has the best character interaction? Is it better to do early reservations or later morning reservations?

We really liked the breakfast at Akershus in Norway. They have a great cold bar and the food comes out plated. I have heard that the Cape May breakfast and the Donald Safari Breakfast are two great character meals with very good food and awesome interaction from the characters....we are trying both of these on our upcoming trip :goodvibes

We like to go early if we are eating in a park (around 8-8:30am), but if we are going to one on a non-park day, we like to get ADRs for around 10:00am or so.

The food at the breakfasts is all pretty good. My family complained a bit about the luke warm egg dishes until we went to Park Fare where they have made-to-order omlettes. I don't think you can really go wrong with the food at any of the breakfast buffets.

As for timing, there is a real advantage to an 8:05am reservation before the park opens. You'll be finishing your meal around rope drop time and can take advantage of the almost empty park. Here is a picture of Fantasyland when we were in the MK for an 8:05 reservation at CRT:

EMPTY!!!!!!!:yay:

We have done Crystal Palace, Cape May Cafe and Chef Mickey's (we did Ohanas when it wasn't Ohanas--it was Minnie's Menehue and was still a buffet). The order I listed them would be our choice of preference as well. We love the puffed french toast and potato casserole at the CP, along with the fresh made omelets. We alternate--one year we'll do at 8:05 a.m. ADR to have Main Street basically to ourselves, along with great views of the castle and then the following year we'll do between 10:00 and 10:30 after we've done the morning Extra Magic Hour plus an hour at the MK.

We always do 2 breakfasts with characters:

1) AK: Tusker House with Donald & Friends (used to be Breakfastasaurus, but it's been moved to Tusker House). Great character interaction, great food, great service!
2) MK: Crystal Palace with Pooh & Friends. Again, great service, great food, great interaction.

We always do the latest breakfast we can, which usually is 10:30 or so. That serves as our lunch too.

Enjoy!

Princess' Mommy on the time doesn't matter. We do CM on our check out day. We don't go to the parks since we're leaving in the morning. Our ADR is usually late morning but the food is frequently replenished and the characters are still peppy. I would pick your time based on your touring and dining habits. Some people covet the early time slots before a park opens so they can get a less crowded view of the park.

Oh, and my favorite is CP for breakfast.

I keep hearing about doing the breakfast before the park opens, sounds like a good idea...

but on our DHS day, we are having a snack in our room (we are bringing snacks with us), we are doing morning EMH (I know some people don't love EMH) and taking advantage of that then grabbing a fast pass, then eating breakfast (10am) and then if we have an early dinner, we don't really need lunch. But that schedule works for my family...I figured that we got at least 1.5 hours of the park pretty empty plus a fast pass and didn't have to pay for lunch...although I know the park might fill up as the day goes on, we will probably just go back and swim at the pool then

We've done the following character breakfasts: Chef Mickey's, Crystal Palace, Ohana, Cape May Cafe, Tusker House. They're basically all good but they are all different. We like Crystal Palace the most - love the Puffed French Toast!!! The character interaction is good & the atmosphere is nice. We prefer the earliest breakfast adr possible - so we can eat & be done in time for rope drop.

We've done Park Fare, Crystal Palace, and Cape May before. Our favorite out of those was Cape May. I didn't care for CP b/c it took forever for the characters to get around to us... FOREVER!

I'm really looking forward to trying Chef Mickey's! I've always heard great things about it, so we will see. I definitely recommend Cape May, though. We are eating there again this trip!

Also, we make our reservations for around 9:30/10... just because we stay out at the resorts late and dont like to get up early. LOL. It's just kind of become apart of our routine.

We are considering Ohana, Chef Mickey and Crystal Palace this time around for breakfasts. That is a good base for our son. Last time we did Crystal Palace and Tusker House and had a great time at both!

Cape May, Crystal Palace, Chef Mickeys breakfast....1900 PF breakfast is very good too and Ohana...that was fun!

We've done Chef Mickey, Crystal Palace, and Tusker House. They're all good and have good interaction. We liked Tusker House because it gets you very close to Kilimanjaro Safari at AK- and with an 8:05 ADR, you're out before the crowds... When we take my parents (on their first trip ever!) in Dec., we're doing both CM and TH, so that should tell you how they rate for us :)

We love, love, love The Tusker House with Donald. We all like the food (many choices) and the characters in their safari gear are too cute! We also like making reservations before the park opens. Last time we left the restaurant and walked onto the safari:cheer2:

I always do Ohana- They interact with the kids with dancing etc.. The bread and juise are wonderful.I have done Hollywood and Vine, which was ok ( buffet). The breakfast at the Swan was really nice, they aren't very busy, so the Characters spend alot of time at each table evening coloring ( trying too) with the kids.

Ohana was our favorite. We enjoyed Cape May as well. This time hoping to do Ohana and Chef mickey.

My favorite breakfast is 1900 Park Faire, but my kids LOVE Chef Mickey's. They even play "Chef Mickey's" at home. There is a big difference here in character attention depending on time you go. We've learned to get the last breakfast reservation time we can (between 11-11:30). By mid breakfast, the place is almost empty and the characters are all there giving you oodles of attention. We've danced around the restaurant with Chip and Dale, had Mickey and Goofy arm wrestle at our tables. We have video of 4 characters all at our table just dancing and playing with the kids for around 10 minutes. So if your kids will enjoy the extra time and attention with the characters book late.

Last October we did CRT, Chef Mickey's, Akershus as our breakfasts. Interaction was better at Chef Mickey's and Akershus, CRT was good for the experience but we felt more rushed there. Chef Mickey's was the overall crowd favorite for variety, festive/loud environment, fun character interaction -- and we were there at 7:10AM on Halloween (DH's birthday)! Our breakfast at Akershus was at 10:15AM so we had both the early and late experiences. Overall we liked the big breakfast, mid-afternoon snack and normal supper the best, just worked better for our family to start early as our kids are early risers. However, one of my friends took her daughter last fall and they could not get her up and moving any morning before 10 -- so I say go on what you think your group's travel plans will be! At Akershus they were changing over to lunch so we did have to hustle a bit to get our food at the end of our breakfast, so I would just watch for that if you make a late ADR, perhaps enquire about how long the food will be out between breakfast/lunch changeover.

We have done CRT, Akershus, Ohanas, CP, 1900 PF for character breakfasts. Would never touch 1900PF again as we found the food to be awful. LOved all the others for various different reasons. Would put CP first as there is so much choice. Ohanas and Akershus are also good but the choice is more limited if you have any picky eaters.
