Character breakfast in park before opening?

I don't know if this should be on Dining board or this board. If anyone has done the character breakfast at 8am in MK when MK opens at 9, what happens if you finish breakfast before 9? I know this sounds stupid, but do you then walk back out to entrance? Or are you allowed to walk around the park a lil? I know some/most areas may still be roped off?
We are doing Disney dining plan for the 1st time and would like to do some special character breakfasts in the parks...but don't want to miss prime touring time either.

I think when we went in august,a dn didned in cinderellas castle, we finished a bit early. Fantasyland was emepty, and we just hun around the shop,s then entered mickey's phillarmagic.
