Character breakfast busses from Ft Wilderness?

With the new passholder rates out for early next year, we're going to try a Wilderness Cabin next February for the first time. The only complication I'm wondering about is our character breakfast at the Grand Floridian.

Since Ft Wilderness doesn't have buses that go to MK (or do they?), are there early buses that go to the TTC? Or should we do something simple like drive to nearby Port Orleans and catch a character breakfast bus there?

If all else fails, we could simply drive to the Floridian directly, but it seems a waste to pay a valet charge just for a 90 minute breakfast visit.

Thanks for your insight here. We'd never really considered staying at Ft Wilderness before, but it seemed like a good opportunity with the new rates out.

The blue flag launches start service from FW to Contemporary at 6:45AM. You could take a launch from FW to Contemporary and monorail from there to GF (monorail starts operating at 7:00AM).

You can park in the remote guest lot at GF and avoid valet parking charge. You could also park in the Wedding Chapel lot, it's a short walk from there to GF.

Thanks for the boat-monorail tip. I had figured boats were likely to be the last thing to begin running.

As for the remote lot at the GF - how does a non-GF guest park there? If I recall, that gate is unattended.

To park at the Gf we went through the main GF gait (with our WL pass in the front window-this identifies you and just let them know you have an ADR) and they directed us around and across the street to the self park. You could also take a launch to MK and transfer to the GF boat there. Enjoy the cabins!

Thanks, great. But I still don't get how you get into the self-park lot if you're not staying at the GF. There's a gate there and no attendant, right?

You will have a pass identifying you as a guest at Fort Wilderness which goes in your windshield. There is an attendant at GF-he'll see your pass and let you through! No problem-just let them know you're coming for breakfast!

Go to the main gate. Let them know you are here for a breakfast, and want to self park. Head to the gate, and just press the button to let the Security Host know that you are there.

We stay at FW every year. I find the transportation to be very good. The boats are the best way to get to the Contemporary, Polynesian and GF. The boat going to MK is great as well. You can also get a bus to TTC but we always take the boats. When we have a car we tend to drive to the resorts. We never have a problem going to resorts for dining. Tell the attendant where you will be having breakfast and they will let you in.

Hope you enjoy FW! Take advantage of the campfire sing-a-long and movie. Always great fun.

OK thanks, C&D. This is what I was trying to figure out.

Since you're the mother of all experts on complex Disney transportation questions, how would you recommend I get from FtW to GF for an 8am character breakfast? Should I look for an early bus, take a couple of connecting boat rides, or just take our car?

For that matter, is there a character breakfast bus at all from FtW to the MK area? And does the small launch between MK, Poly and GF start early enough for our purposes?

Thanks greatly.

Personally, I'd do the boat to the Contemporary, and then take the Monorail to the GF. That's just me. The boat starts at 6:45am, and the monorail at 7:00am.
