Character breakfast and Genie+

On our initial park day 8/18 we will be going to Hollywood studios. We have an 8:30 breakfast reservation at Hollywood and Vine. Our plan is to stay in the park until 1 or 2 and return to BLT until later in the evening.
We have park hopper tickets so we can either go to Epcot or back to HS.

It seems to me it would not make sense to purchase Genie based on the plans for the day.

Does that make sense or is there some benefit to using Genie that day? If I understand the system correctly, I can still use Lightening Lane for some rides.

In order to use Lightning Lanes, you have to have either:
(1) Purchased Genie+ and then, of course, made selection(s)
or
(2) Purchased an Individual Lightning Lane (which is separate from Genie+). There is only 1 Individual Lightning Lane available in each park and you can book a maximum of 2 of them per day.

But, in short, no, you cannot use the Lightning Lanes if you haven't purchased G+ or ILL and also you have to pick what ride(s) you want. There's a thread pinned to the top of the Theme Parks board that explains everything.

Yes, what I meant was instead of purchasing Genie that day I would purchase LL at each park.

If by "LL," you mean the Individual Lightning Lanes, then I get it. So you'd get the ILL for RotR and for GotG. Just to be clear.

But it all depends on what you want to stand in line for. For us, getting G+ for even a couple of rides is worth it since standing in an hour-long line is not too appealing.

I agree, it sounds like you'd not be in the parks long enough to justify paying for G+, but yes you could purchase iLL$ in each park, at DHS you could buy iLL$ for Rise and at Epcot you could buy iLL$ for GofG. You can choose times that would suit your schedule best. But G+ for epcot is a waste of $ imo even if you're in the park all day.
