Don't remember where I saw the post, but "THANK YOU" to the person that posted the idea !! Just back from a 9-day (hot, but great) trip, and they are the best souvenirs that we've ever brought home !

Also made searching for (and meeting) the characters a blast !

We were able to get around 40-50 autographs , and our lil ones are loving life right now (5 and 9)

The characters were happy to sign them, and the CMs didn't have a problem at all !

Thanks again !!

That's awesome to hear. You guys got a lot of autographs!!! I was thinking about doing something different this trip as well.

What did you use to a have them sign it? Did you have to pad it with something so it didn't bleed through while signing? I was thinking of doing a pillowcase or maybe a 2016 shirt.

Thanks !! Their fave was the Olaf signature !! I bought little clipboards to rest the cases on and they were folded to the spot where the characters would sign --- they seemed to love signing them, and we got a lot of "why didn't we do that?" from people on line with us ... Lol

Bought 4 different colored markers from Staples ( fabric markers) --- didn't bleed at all .

If you take an embroidery hoop it would be easy for them to sign and and you just move it around to space them out. It's light weight and easily tucks away in bag. $3 at walmart or craft stores.

Very important to use FABRIC MARKERS too. Sharpies are great for everything but fabric. They will fade over time when used on fabric. Fabric Markers will remain more vibrant.

I used a mini clip board. Found it easier than the embroidery hoop. I used binder clips to hold the fabric in place

Great idea, what kind of pillowcase did you purchase, cotton, or a blend?

<----- Smacks palm on forehead...

Why didn't I think of that??? What a great idea, my kids would have loved it. My daughter filled two autograph books this trip. Sigh... Oh well, now I've got an idea for next summer.

We did this last April and have brought it for more signatures twice since then. Probably 50+ washes because my daughter actually sleeps on it, and still going strong. I used the "Sharpie Stained" fabric markers.

Awesome awesome awesome!!!!!! DD10 and I are leaving for our trip tomorrow, and we were just looking for the last book she bought that wasn't full yet. But while she was looking for it, I thought to myself, how special is *another* autograph book...???

But this is really great. Where did you find the mini clipboard?

I got mine at Staples.

The pillow case I used was done by one of the custom clothes makers, it has a "thought bubble" on it that says "It was all started by a mouse....."
Those of you who have time may look around on Facebook at the various sellers for some that are decorated, if that appeals to you. It was put on the flap, not on the part where you put your head so it isn't uncomfortable to sleep on

We did this in February. I bought an embroidered pillowcase off Etsy that had a Minnie head and my daughter's name in the middle. We cut down a piece of MDF, sanded the corners, and used binder clips to attach the pillowcase to the MDF.

This is a super cute idea, thanks, everyone! I think my DGD would love this! What a cool keepsake!

What is MDF?

Cute idea! I made a glitter iron transfer shirt of Merida's silhoutte, and am hoping to have her sign it on our MK day so I can wear it later in the trip! Anyone know if fabric markers will show up on black fabric?

They do make a white fabric marker. Ages ago exDH used them to mark his military uniforms.
Finding one could be a bit tricky. Give it a Google search and I bet you'll find something.
I probably wouldn't try anything but white or silver

We've done autographed pillow cases a few times. We try to do 'themes' on the pillow cases for my young nieces. For example, first year we got the Fab 5 to sign pillow cases for each of them. Then last year, it was Winnie and Pooh and friends. This way, we just have to bring them (the pillow cases) to one character meal (Chef Mickey for the Fab 5 and Crystal Palace for Pooh and friends) then pack them away in our suitcases for home. This year we will likely to do 'princess theme' as we are dining at Akershsus, or possibly Lilo/Stitch and Mickey/Pluto as we are going to 'Ohana breakfast. I use them as Santa sacks for each girl at Christmas. I wrap their gifts and put them in the pillow case (with autographs) and tie them up with ribbon. This is always a big hit with the girls!
If you are doing a Disney Cruise, you can put the pillow cases (or t-shirts) in a ziploc bag with fabric markers and drop them off at Guest Relations. They will have the characters sign your pillow cases and you can pick them up later on in the cruise. We did this for our daughters when they were younger and on the DCL.

What is MDF?

MDF is some kind of fake wood (I think it is basically sawdust and resin). The surface is very smooth, and if sufficiently thick, it does not bend. We bought a sheet at Home Depot and cut it to the size we wanted. I can't remember exactly what thickness we bought -- I'm guessing it was 3/8" thick.
