Character Autograph ???

Can characters sign autograph books with Sharpie pens? We wouldn't want any ink to get on their "hands."

I was told before that they prefer ball point pens that are large, oversized and easy to hold.

They signed t-shirts for us with Sharpie pens. With a book though, I'd be afraid of the ink bleeding through. I think you'd be better off with a fat pen.
