Chante c’est Noel!!!!

Sat 29th Dec – Last day

Cast:
Me (21 x2 plus extra) – 4th trip
DH (21 x2 plus extra) – 4th trip
DD – 8 – Loves Princesses, POC and BTM and Disney – 4th trip
DGM (Grandma. My Mum) – 76. 1st trip to DLP

After 2 early mornings as much as we’d have loved to have made use of EMH again we decided we had better not rush as much today. We had to check out of DCR by 11.00 but as we’d booked a late shuttle we didn’t need to leave the parks until about 5.00. We had decided to get up leisurely, have breakfast in the cabin and have a swim before leaving.
We were up about 8.00 and DH went to collect the breakfast from the little hut which was virtually next to our cabin. We were really impressed with the breakfast – for 4 of us we had 8 croissants, one and half baguettes, a large selection of jams, nutella, butter, honey, cheese. 4 small cartons of orange juice, a large carton of milk and tea, coffee and chocolate sachets.
The food was laid out on the table and the kettle was on- well the pan of hot water as the kettle was being temperamental. It was yummy and more than enough for us.
We packed our cases and decided not to pack the car until we’d been swimming so just left everything in the cabin. This proved to be a mistake as we really had to rush back to be out by 11.00 and would have stayed in the pool for longer. However we know for next time.
Anyhow we headed towards the Village area. It was the first time we had seen it in the light and it looked very nice. We found the pool and found an area for DGM to watch us as she’d decided she didn’t want to swim. We showed our hotel id and asked about hiring towels but were told we had to pay for them at the shop and bring the receipt back to the pool to collect them so DH rushed across to the shop. However when he got back he said the shop didn’t know about paying for them there and they kept trying to tell him to pay at the pool. It all seemed a bit confusing!!!!!
We eventually got into the pool and it was lovely – so peaceful and quiet after the chaos of the parks. There were only a couple of others in there. We could have stayed in for hours. DD loved it.
Unfortunately we had to get out to go back to empty our cabin- that’s when we wished we’d loaded the car up beforehand so we could have lingered for longer. We dashed back to the cabin and dried our hair whilst throwing the last few things into bags.
At that point it had started raining so we ended up packing the boot in the rain, got in the car and drove to New York again. Were we about to experience our first visit to the parks in the rain? We’ve always been so lucky and the only rain we’ve ever had there was in July walking from the Village car park to the Village toilets, then by the time we came out of the toilets it had cleared up. Once again we were lucky and by the time we got out of the car at New York the rain had stopped.
We had a lunch reservation at Blue Lagoon so decided to let DGM explore the shops on main street whilst we queued with DD to see Goofy Santa, however when we got in Goofy wasn’t there (possibly due to the weather), neither was Minnie or whoever was meant to be at the other Meet and Greet point nearby. So we decided to all have a look in the shops and work our way up Main Street that way. We browsed and earmarked one or 2 items to buy on the way out.
As we came out of the shops at the top of Main Street it started snowing again so DD and I stood in the road catching the ‘flakes’.

We realised it was almost time for the Character express so decided to stand and watch it. We then went through the Adventureland entrance and looked at the Aladdin attraction.

By now it was more or less time for our lunch reservation so we made our way towards Blue Lagoon. We were seated almost immediately – unfortunately not by the water but in a nice area at the back of the restaurant by a fence so we could look over. I’ll write a fuller report on the Blue Lagoon thread but once again we had a lovely meal.

When we came out we looked at the queue for POC but decided it was too long- nowhere near as bad as yesterday but still outside the ‘cave’.
Instead we decided to see if we could get into the Winnie the Pooh show however when we arrived we would have been in the reserve line again as we were for the Lion King Show yesterday so decided not to wait.
We went to see if we could get on the train and found it was a walk on- there was a train waiting in the station and no queue – Ive never been able to walk straight onto this before. It was busy though and at first we had to sit in 2 separate carriages but after 1 stop we were able to move together. We stayed on all the way round and at every other station there was a massive queue- we had been really lucky getting on immediately. Whilst on the train we noticed the Storybook rides were open so decided to stay on til we were back in Fantasyland again and try to get onto them on route trying to get a photo with Belle.
We arrived at Belles Village and saw Belle there. We joined the queue which wasn’t too bad. It was moving quickly and one or 2 people seemed to have changed their mind. We soon realised why when we reached the front- Belle had gone and the Beast had come. What a shame!!! Belle is DDs favourite and she hadn’t managed to see her. However she wasn’t too disappointed and had another photo with the Beast. We asked the CM when Belle would be back and she said in half an hour but in her Village not at the meet and greet point. We decided to do the storybook ride and see if we could see her on the way out. We did the ride but there was no sign of Belle in the Village, we couldn’t even see where she may be coming to. We decided to leave it as we wanted to go to Sequoia Lodge for a drink before leaving.
We made our way back down Main Street- seeing Sleeping Beauty and Malificent on route by the side of the castle. We called into the shops for some last minute purchases then out of the parks for the last time this trip.
We walked up to Sequoia Lodge and into the bar where we all had a hot chocolate. Whilst there we broke the news to DD that we were going to stay there in Summer- another trip she didn’t know anything about!!!! The fire was blazing and we wished we could stay but unfortunately we had a long drive up to Calais to the tunnel however we had one last treat in store. As we were sitting there we suddenly saw Pluto in the reception area so DD and I went over for some photos. A perfect ending.

<div><embed src="http://apps.rockyou.com/rockyou.swf?instanceid=97795665&ver=102906" quality="high" salign="lt" width="426" height="319" wmode="transparent" name="rockyou" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer"/></embed><br><a style="padding-right:1px;" target="_BLANK" href="http://www.rockyou.com/?type=slideshow&refid=97795665"><img style="border:0px;" src="http://apps.rockyou.com/link/logo.gif"></a><a style="padding-right:1px;" target="_BLANK" href="http://www.rockyou.com/slideshow_create.php?refid=97795665&source=cyo"><img style="border:0px;" src="http://apps.rockyou.com/link/create_own.gif"></a><a style="padding-right:1px;" target="_BLANK" href="http://www.rockyou.com/show_my_gallery.php?instanceid=97795665"><img style="border:0px;" src="http://apps.rockyou.com/link/view_all.gif"></a></div>

The journey up to Calais was uneventful. We arrived in plenty of time to get a sandwich in the terminal and do some last minute shopping. We then collapsed into our beds at Travel Lodge in Ashford again ready for our long drive North the following day.

LOL Don't worry - I could easily read that over twice!

What a lovely end to a perfect holiday!

I suggested to DD that we went and visited SL too, as we are staying there at Easter ourselves, but she was reluctant to do so, as she said it would spoil the excitement. :upsidedow

A brilliant report, I've thoroughly enjoyed reading them all and your pictures are just so lovely. I can't wait to go this year!! :cool1:

Im sure you'll really like it at Sequoia Lodge. We are staying there for the first time in Summer and are really looking forward to it.

I've just read a reference to bearskins being part of the décor, hope they aren't too obvious as I think this would put DD off! She covered a circus picture involving animals, with a towel, at the HI :lmao:

What a lovely time you've had, I've really enjoyed reading your reports and looking at your lovely slideshow. :goodvibes

It's not quite so sad going home when you know you've got another trip booked! ;)

Thank you everyone for your comments about the report and photos. I love writing them and rereading them when waiting to go. Can it be added to the other parts in the trip thread please

What a lovely trip you had. I really enjoyed reading about it and your photos are lovely.
Whilst you're all excited about staying at SL, I'm wishing we could drive so we could stay at DCR, it sounds such fun.

Thanks for sharing with us. :goodvibes
