Has anyone done this on their own? I have checked a few of the other cruise boards on excursions and trip advisor and get mixed messages about the amount of beach. We definitly want some sandy beach to hang out on with the kids (DD7, DS5)

Trying to decide do to this or Pardise beach on our own. Have done Paradise before and liked it but there seems to be more to offer at Chankanaab, even though it will cost more.

We were there Novemeber 2011 and completed the dolphine excursion. I was not impressed with the beach. It is a nice place to visit, but the real draw was the dolphins. Otherwise, I'm sure there is a better beach on Cozumel.
Hope this was helpful!

If beach time is your primary interest, then I would not recommend Chankanaab. We love the park and the large pool area, watching the dolphins, etc, but the beach area is small. We've been to Coz several times and have gone both directions from the Ports for beach time. Paradise Beach, Playa Mia, and the other similar venues in that direction are by far our favorites when we just want casual beach time.

We absolutely LOVED Chankanaab! However, if you are looking for some nice beach time only, I would not recommend it. It is a great snorkeling place and their lagoon is lovely. My DD4 is a strong swimmer and just wanted to stay in the water the whole time. However, the lagoon is small and their main beach is not zero entry and deep right away, which might not be the best for children.

I agree with everyone else! Chankanaab is fabulous, but more for the snorkeling than the beach itself!

We cruised Magic in 2007 and did this on our own and it was very easy. It is beautiful. We only did the Royal Dolphin swim but we are going again on Fantasy 2013 and will do it again but enjoy the entire park this time. A definite winner and you can definitely do it on your own. Very professional, clean, beautiful place.
