Changing seating times?

Hi, my friend will be booking for April but there is only late seating available. It will be a party of 2, so I was wondering how hard it will be to change to early seating once she is on board? Does anyone have experience with this? Has anyone NOT been able to change seating times? Thanks for your help.

I'm in the same boat on our cruise. I asked this a few weeks ago, and the concensus is that it can happen, but most of the time does not. You all being two adults, chances might be slim to none on getting moved, unless there are not many on the boat. Make sure you get on the wait-list with DCL for it. They tend to move people with younger kids over adults, though, if anyone at all gets moved.

It is a truly by available kind of thing. I'd also advise your friends to get on the waitlist, as sometimes that can come through. Upon boarding have them go directly to the dining changes area (usually in Diversions) and make their request. They probably won't find out right then and there, but it might come through. As stated above, they usually do move those with small children first and since your friends are 2 adults, their chances probably are slim.

I've been able to change dinner seating a couple of times by calling occasionally and asking for an opening. They don't consult the wait list as soon as something opens up, they just fill openings from it once a day. So if someone calls to cancel and you then call to check for openings before they've consulted the wait list, you'll get the opening. I made a habit of calling a few times a week to check (you'll have to have your travel agent do this if you've booked through one). During the week just prior to when final payment is due, I called at least once a day, sometimes twice, since this is when most cancellations occur. Each time I've been able to make the changes I've wanted (dinner seating twice, cabin category once) before the sailing date, so I didn't have to go request a change once on board.

We booked our January 2005 cruise in May 2004 and were told that only the 8:30 dinner seating was available. We have a DD12 and DS6 so we requested to be put on the waiting list for the early seating. I just noticed on my reservation with DCL yesterday that we have been changed from 8:30 to 6:00. :cheer2:
