Changing rooms at same resort

I know this has been asked before, but I didn't pay attention. (I'm sorry) I am thinking of booking a studio for 2 weekend nights, and then a 1 bedroom for the remainder of our trip at VWL in June. I have a few questions:

1. Do you keep the same keys, or do you have to get new ones?

2. Do you have to check-out (with express, I know this isn't a pain), and then check-in? Can you do it at the same time? How does the new room ready policy fit into this?

3. I know they can keep your luggage, but what do you do with your perishable goods?

4. How would you subjectively characterize the process: minor annoyance to huge inconvenience.

5. My family wants to try VWL--how is it in June--too dark, too wintry or great?

Changing rooms is pretty easy, but you ARE changing rooms.

1) You will need to check-in and get new keys

2) You will need to vacate your first room by 11:00am and may not get the next room until after 4:00pm. If there is a room ready, you may get one immediately. I suggest "reminding" the desk that you are changing rooms the night before and that you will appreciate any consideration in that effort (always stated with a BIG smile on your face). Be prepared to be homeless for up to 5 hours and have plans for that time period!

3) The Bell Staff will store luggage in a secure locker (make sure you have everything you'll need during that time frame) and perishables will be stored in a refrigerator.

4) It has usually been a minor inconvenience- moving is always an inconvenience.

5) VWL is always great!

I just did this at BWV last month. As Doc said, you do need to check out and in again (I sent DH down early while I was getting ready/packing up) we then went to Seaworld so we would not be needing the room that day. Bellservices will hold your perishables in the fridge for you - just specify which bags.

I found it to be way better than actually switching resorts, but it was kind of an annoyance.
