Noob here, so I'm not up on all the acronyms yet. :lol
We plan on staying Polynesian for 8 nights next Feb/Mar.
Grandpa and Grandma will be joining our family of 4 for a few days. We are toying with the idea of getting a villa at AK or WL.
Question is, how much of a hassle is a resort change mid-vacation?
Thanks!

I think it depends on your family. We are doing it this trip because we love trying different places so for us we are willing to take the extra work to split time between CR and BC to get the best of both areas. I know some people don't like them but others have no problems. My SIL was down there last month and they switched 3 times (every 2 days) and had a blast!

I guess we'll be finding out this summer. We are doing a split of 5 nights Poly/5 nights of BC. We are doing it because we couldn't decide between the two. I was initially against the idea, but I don't think it'll be too bad. We may be "homeless" for part of our switch day, but I guess if there's a place to be homeless, it's Disney!!! We will have Bell Services move our stuff and head over to DHS on our moving morning and then check into BC that afternoon. We will keep our bathing suits on us so that even if our room isn't ready yet, we'll be able to enjoy the pool while we wait. :goodvibes

Our family has also done split stays in the past with no problems. We plan the moving day as our down day from the parks. When we are ready to check out bell services calls a taxi and we transport the luggage ourselfs. DD has medication so this works best for us.

When we arrive at the second resort we've been lucky and our room has been ready. If not like Mousemommy1 said we have our swim suits and will enjoy the pool and have a nice lunch.

Happy planning you and your family will  the Poly.

It's not a hassle at all as Disney will transfer your luggage for you :). The only thing that might happen is your room at the second resort might not be ready until later in the afternoon. You can give your luggage to bell services and then head to a park and check in at the new resort later in the day; or you could head over to the second resort first thing in the morning and if your room is ready, great.....if not, leave your bags with bell services and head to the pool or off to a park and they will text you when the room is ready. If you don't mind the possibility of not having a room for a while, split stays are a very easy process and it's a good way to try different resorts in the same trip :goodvibes.

Thanks to all! We will now see what lovely DW thinks about spending a couple days with parents in same room.

It is not difficult at all! You simply call bell services. They will pick up your bags and have them transferred to your new resort. Your bags will typically arrive at the new resort in the afternoon. After our bags were transferred we went to the park of our choice and enjoyed it for the day and when we were ready for a break we took the bus to our new resort and checked in. If you were transferring during your down day, you could simply take a bus to the closest park to your new hotel (or any park for that matter!) and then take the bus to your new hotel. Enjoy your trip and :welcome:!

I'd price out the cost dif. between 2 rooms at Poly vs a 2 bdrm villa. I think with your fam of 4, plus the parents I think you'd need a 2 bdrm.
For me, I'd prefer to have 2 rooms

The moving part is easy, as mentioned, just call Bell Service and they do it all. It's the re-packing & unpacking that can be a hassle.

We do split stays on vacays of 10+ days. But it's just me and my now 26 yr old daugher that usually goes. Husband not interested in WDW, and my other daughter is in college, and works part time, so she can't get away. All I have to do is pack my own stuff up.
