Changing resorts if unhappy with original one on arrival

Has anyone had the experience of wanting to change resorts entirely once they have arrived at their original resort. We are staying at the Poly in 13 days, and would like to know "just in case" If I were to downgrade would there be a penalty?

We did this in 1997 and had no problem whatsoever. We had decided to try out Dixie Landings (now Port Orleans Riverside) and it just didn't have the feel that we were looking for. We were able to call CRO from our hotel room and they had no problem switching us for the duration of the trip. We splurged and upgraded to two nights at the Wilderness Lodge in a courtyard view room then continued on for the rest of our stay, 5 nights I believe, at Caribbean Beach

As long as it is from one Disney hotel to another they will transfer everything (deposits, packages, etc). for you to the new resort with out penalty to you

We have done this before without any problems as long as there is availibility at the resort you wish to move to.

We did this In July. We thought we would save some money and stay at POR. We lasted about an hour before we desperately missed the GF. DH was able to go and get us not only our room, but they applied the AP discount. We were so happy.
