We are spending Thanksgiving this year at the BCV. This week we saw that Southwest had listed their flights for this time. Our reservations are for Sat - Friday at the BCV but we will save $60 a ticket (family of 5 = $300 savings) if we travel Friday night.

Here is my question...

How hard is it to have Disney move your luggage? We were thinking of trying to reserve a room at the ALL star and then checking in to the BC late. We could than get up check out of the All star and go to a park for the day. We have always stayed at one resort our entire stay so we don't know how difficult this is. Does it cost?

Our other choice is to reserve a room at the BC or YC and move our stuff to the storage area in the morning when we check out until our BCV room is ready. This would cost more.

What do you guys think???

I ran into the same problem for our December trip. I have BWV reserved for Saturday to Friday. I wanted to get 2 frequent flyer tickets on USAir, when I called in May the only non-stop flight on Saturday was 8:55pm. So I asked about Friday, they had them for morning flights. So we're going Friday to Friday (Dec 6 to 13). I called Disney Club and got a 20% off room for Friday night at CBR ($118 w/tax). I didn't want to borrow points for a Friday night at BWV if I could even get it (41 points) and didn't want to pay cash ($400+ for a 1 bedroom undiscounted). We stayed at CBR before and liked it so I saw it as an opportunity to try it again, plus get an extra day at WDW! I don't have the luggage problem since we have a rental car, but from what I understand they will move the luggage free. You just have the bellman send it to BCV, people have reported doing this with no problem.

I would never do this again if it involved un-packing my luggage and staying a few days, it was a real pain. But what we are doing in October, especially since we have a late flight is exactly as you suggest, we are going to spend the first night (expensive weekend points) at the All Star Movies and then move to the BCV. We will not even unpack with the exception of a specific suitcase that will have our toothbrush, P.J.s and clothes for the next morning. Disney makes it fairly painless, you just pack your stuff, call bell services and tell them your are turansfering resorts, they pick your stuff up at your room and take it to your next resort, you just leave the hotel, go to the parks and later that day go to your next resort and check in.

I just made our reservation for next May and instead of the All-stars, we decided to do a studio on the first night at BCV (without unpacking) and then move to a one bedroom the next day.

Perhaps I missed something, but $300 savings, (after food, accommodations, extra car rental, or any other incidentals, and having to move), does seem to whittle down to the point of not being worth it.

Here's another idea - I did this last year with friends. We planned a Thursday to Monday long weekend. The flights on Thursday morning were expensive, prices weren't coming down, so we flew down on Wednesday night. We found a cheap hotel near the airport for around $75, 3 of us split the cost. They had a free shuttle to/from the airport. We took the shuttle to the hotel and back in the morning to the airport to get the rental car we had already reserved for a great rate for Thursday morning, so no additional car rental money. We arrived at Coronado Springs at 8:30am and they had connecting rooms ready for us (a 4th friend was flying in later from another state, we had 50% off CM rates so we got 2 rooms, 4 women in one room with one bathroom wouldn't have been fun  )

We feel that for the $300 dollars we should be able to get a room at an All Star for around $100 and then be there to spend the full day on Sat. The Sat. flight would have gotten us to Disney around 3 or 4. We were not planning on renting a car so that cost would not change. We may have to buy an extra day hopper since we weren't planning to go to a park on Sat. but we have 2 left over water park passes from our last trip that we could use.

I think we will try the All Star and have Disney move our stuff. We can go to EPCOT or MGM and then take the boat or walk over to the BCV to check in.

Thanks for all the suggestions
