I was wondering how do you go about changing reservations? My current resort is not included in the summer room only discount and I am thinking about switching, which would save over $500.00. Is there any fee to do this? Also do you have to cancel one reservation and make a new deposit on the new one? How long does it take to get your money back if so? (We have about $1300 paid already.....thanks!!:confused3:confused3

When I did it last time I had paid about 500 and they deposited it back into my account and it took about a week. I had to pay the one night deposit on a room only reservation right away, but maybe I didn't do it the right way?

More than 45 days out, you just call [or have your Travel Agent call, as appropriate] and they check availability and see what they can do.

The balance should transfer over, if you are owed money, I believe it is remitted by the form of payment ['refund' to Credit Card/Gift Card used, or issued a check via mail].

If it's less than 45 days out, you can get hit with a cancellation or change fee.

It looks like you are more than 45 days from check-in, so you will not be hit with any change or cancellation fees. Once you are within 45 days of check-in, you would be assessed a $50 change fee as your new reservation would cost less than your current one.

If you are just changing resorts, your reservation can just be modified with no need to cancel and rebook. The only time one has to be cancelled/refunded and the other booked with a new deposit is when you are going from a package to room only or vice versa as money paid toward one cannot be applied to the other. For packages, any changes need to be made prior to final payment day (45 days out) to avoid a $50 change fee; for room only ressies, you have until 5 or 6 days prior to arrival to make changes without a fee. Any credits I have received have shown up within 2-3 days, but it all depends on your bank. HTH :).

Ahhh that makes sense why I had to make a new deposit. I switched from a package to a room only.

Thanks! I will call today and make the change, cannot turn down a savings of $500! Thanks a lot of extras for the kiddies!

one last questions, if you change dates you would need to cancel and rebook right?

also the discount may not be available at your chosen resort at this time. getting close to summer and alot of rooms have been snagged because of discounts and school schedules...

essentially you are making a completely new reservation if room only from pkg. 2 different reservation systems. assuming that you have other ticket source? anything with tix or dining(for sure) is considered a pkg whether your dining is on the free dining plan. For dining you need to buy tix from disney.

call them....you know what you want.

If your dates change to totally different time that may have to be another reservation.

That's the only time one has to be cancelled and the other rebooked. If you're only changing dates or resort, your current ressie is just modified :).

No, not if you're just changing dates and leaving everything else alone. If only changing dates, your current ressie can be modified with no need to cancel and rebook (you will also keep the same confirmation number). Cancelling and rebooking is only needed if you booked, for example, room only and wanted to change to a package (or you had a package and wanted to go with just the room). Good luck :wizard:.

I've changed dates and/or resorts or room categories and they were always able to just modify my reservation, so no need to make a new deposit. As other PPs have said, it's just a problem if you go from room only to a package or the other way around.

Glad you get to save $500! :cool1:
