I am sure you guys can help. So my salesperson tells me that I can make a resv at my home at the 11 month mark and then at the seventh maonth mark go shopping for another resort. How does this work? Do I have to cancel the original resv and then start over hoping to find another resort ?
Or can tell me what is avaialable for that time in other resorts and just move the resv over to another resort ? thanks:happytv:

You can check for availablility before you decide to switch. Some people can book the second reservation and then cancel the first, that depends on how many points you have available. There are factors involved, are there banked or borrowed points used for the original?

MS does help you out. I'm someone who is very leery about changing reservations because twice I lost what I had and what I wanted in the few minutes it took to cancel the one and book the other. Neither of those "bad" things happend at 7 months, but closer to 3 months out when availability was more limited.

I've also lost a reservation when a partial waitlist came through. I'm not the best one to talk about "change!" However, MS has always come through for me, helping me to get something if not exactly what I wanted, a close enough second choice.

We call at the 7 month mark and check availability. Sometimes we've been lucky enough to be able to move to another resort and other times, what we want is not available so we go on the waitlist. We had the waitlist come through once, but had to cancel the trip.

MS is great about walking you through the process over the phone and answering any questions you have along the way.

I've done this many times and have never had a problem. If another resort isn't available at least I have someplace to stay.

MS has always been great about helping me through the process, and luckily for me { unlike Bobbiwoz (I've read some of your reservation nightmares) who has no luck where this is concerned :sad2:} I have never experienced the mixup and cancellations they've done to her.

Don't forget it's Disney you'll have a great time :yay: - it's DVC all of the resorts have their own perks.
