Changing reservation question, please help ASAP

Hi All, I found some flights we would like to book before the prices go back up, but they are not for the days we have our DVC reservations. If I call MS tomorrow and ask to cancel the last night and add it to the beginning, how will that work?

Current reservation.....Sat. Nov. 23 - Sun. Dec. 1

Would like.....Friday Nov 22 - Sat. Nov. 30

When I look at availability, the room we need to add for Friday night is available. Can they just add that night and cancel the last night? Or, do they cancel the whole reservation and start all over? If so, I would never get the reservation back, would I?

If you have enough points book the night you need now, they have no issue taking nights off reservations from either end, then call tomorrow morning and cancel the night you do not need.

If you can't then yes you can call in the morning and they can drop a night and then add a night for you. Hope it all goes well for you!

Thanks for the quick reply. I do have points that could be borrowed to add the first night. If I do this online tonight, do I have 2 reservations? If so, can they then combine the 2 reservations?

Yes if you do the reservation it will show up as two reservations, tomorrow they can combine assuming its same resort and room type.
The hilarity of my booking stories now leaves me pretty clear on booking details.

Hi, REMEMBER if you are borrowing points from NEXT year that borrowing is a permanent transaction. THOSE points will stay in this use year. Joan

Thank you. I have thought of that. I'm thinking I will chance it and call right away in the morning, then they can cancel the last night and use those points to add the night at the beginning. Is that correct?

That's what I would do. IMO, there's not a big risk of that night getting booked before you call. Let us know how it works out, OK?

Thanks everyone. All went well. I called this morning and it couldn't have been easier. All they did was change the dates because the room for the first night was available. It didn't change my confirmation number and since it was the same number of points, nothing needed to be done with that either. I'm glad I waited instead of borrowing the points.

We were almost ready to cancel this trip because flights were so outrageous, but we are happy to report we are still visiting the world this year!!
