Changing Points After Booking

I'm thinking of making an AKV reservation for next April with 78 banked 2023 AKV points, 66 2024 AKV points, and 16 2024 HHI points. I have a June UY. I know this is risky, but this is a rescheduled trip due to the hurricane this week. My question is if I decide I don't want to use the 16 HHI points, can I borrow 16 AKV points from 2025 and use them instead without having to cancel?

Usually if you modify a reservation, you can remove the use of certain points by removing the particular contract from those to be used when doing the new reservation, and thus you could use AKV borrowed points rather than the HHI points if you do not list the HHI contract as one to be used for the new reservation.

However, though unclear from your post, if the reservation you want to change, due the hurricane, is one about to occur within the next 30 days, then you have a different issue, because any attempt to modify to a future date using any points in that reservation will be subject to the holding rule, meaning the new reservation can be no more than 60 days away. If that is the case, you may want to contact MS to see if DVC will waive the holding rule as a courtesy resulting from the hurricane.

If that is the case, then you should be able to do the modification online, unless, as one might suspect is a possibility, the website system itself is rejecting that the points are no longer subject to holding, in which case, you may need to contact MS to make the modification.

I just booked the room with no problem. If the website was seeing them as holding points, then I wouldn't have been able to since the trip is 6 months out. I'll make sure I modify it using borrowed AKV points before my January 31 banking deadline. Thanks for the help!
