Changing Plans

Since getting my tickets and reservations to a family suite at ASMu, my son and son-in-law have started new jobs and can't get the time off. My husband and I have decided to go anyway (although may change to a cheaper room). If I understand it right though, the tickets that they won't be using will be good forever until they can go. Is that right? Also, what about the child's ticket...if he grows out of the child ticket age before his parents can go, how does that work in changing it to an adult ticket? Sad to not have the whole family along for this trip, but happy for their new jobs. Thanks for any info.
