changing party numbers?

My MIL has become very ill, and I don't believe they will be going with us in october for our trip. I have already made all of my reservations. should I change the party number from 8 to 6 or just leave them as they are and say everyone is present when we go?

I had many reservation for 6 and only showed up with 3. It was never questioned (my kids and mom werent up to going to some ressies). I also had a ressie for 11 and only 6 went..again, no problem. I would leave it alone. Its not like you are going from 12 to 6.

Try to look online and see if you can get a ressie for same restaurant/date/time for party of 6, if so, book that, then cancel the other. If not, leave original alone.

I would only try to change anything that has a CC hold. CRT, HDDR, etc will probably charge you if you show up with less people.

You can try and change them, but if they are adrs you don't want to part with then just go and explain 2 of the party couldn't make it that night.

It is always nice to try and open up spots if you aren't going to use them, but if it means losing your own adr I wouldn't do it.

Downsizing a party at the podium hasn't been a problem (though I've only ever changed from a 4 to a 3). However, if there is even the slightest chance your MIL will join you, you should probably keep your current ADRs. That way you won't have to scramble if she opts to come.

I had only one reservation that I had to reduce it was 11 people down to 4 people. I called MS and told them that I didnt want to lose the reservation that there were no others available. She told me no problem she whould just change the number of people and it remained the same conf# and time.
