What is the strategy these days with trying to get RoTR. Should we just book 3-4 days of HS park passes to try? Also how has the availabilty been for morning changes in the park you want to go to if we don't get a reservation? We are going Oct 9th-17th so its close to the anniversary and im worried that we wont have options other than our picked park if we decide to change.

Your biggest unknown is what will happen, in general, with the number of guests at WDW depending on the unknown pandemic progress and rules.

Any guess is as good as another until we see what happens as the Summertime rolls through.

(Imagine what kind of advice you'd have gotten -and how it CHANGED- if you were posting this question in Feb. 2020.)

I was about to ask the same thing. Our fam of 5 really does not want to miss out on RoTR and like you was going to reserve HS and if we couldn't get a boarding pass then swap to another park for the day. My concern is that the other parks will be reserved to capacity.

Side note, how hard is it to change your reservation day of? Do I just go into MDE and cancel my reservation for one park and reserve for another the same day?

I changed my park pass yesterday morning at 11am. Had HS but decided to change it to AK. You have to cancel the original then you can make a new pass. There is no way to modify it. As long as you see availability you should be fine. Like the poster above said, none of us have any idea what things will be like at that time. Your chances will be increased if you are a resort guest.

50th anniversary month is October? Lots of parks may be full, not just HS.

We booked HS for two days in November 2020, just in case. Got BG both days. Would have been sad if we had gotten neither.

Plan your schedule as though you are locked in to your selections.

I moved reservations day-of in September, but it was just one person during lower attendance.

I thought about doing this, and booking HS for the bulk of my days and hoping I could switch out the morning of, but decided to take the more conservative approach and just go with what our plan was. It’s just so hard to say what is going to be available and not, especially if you are going at a time where it is more likely to be crowded, like your dates, or mine (week after Easter).
