Changing # of People for PS??

Unfortunately the size of our much anticipated family trip has shrunk from 12 to only 6 people. All of our PS are for 12 people. I called to reduce my party size down to six thinking this would be no problem. I was told that this was not possible and I would have to cancel the reservation and rebook a new reservation. Unfortunately, this was not possible at Chef Mickeys and the Princess Breakfast. I now have two choices 1.) cxl the PS and not go to the above mentioned restaurants or 2.) Show up with only 6 people for a PS for 12 people. I would be curious if anyone else was ever in this situation and what they did?

Also, I can see why you can't add to a PS but it makes no sense why you can not delete people. Does anyone know the sense behind this policy?

I think it's like this.

If I make a PS for a group of 4, they assign me a table that seats 4. Then maybe later I want to call back and change it to only 2 people, but by that time all the tables for 2 are already taken. They will not seat 2 people at a table for 4 because they loose money that way. So, now there is no room for a party of 2 where there had been for a party of 4. Does that make sense.

For instance, if you called in to make a PS for 6 people, they might tell you that there were no available tables - even though there were tables for 8 or 10 available. They don't put people at tables that seat more than are in their group.

That said, I would probably just show up for your PS with less people. I'm sure you will get seated somewhere.

Gem-

I understand that logic and should have included the exact details in the initial post. For all of my resrvations I have two tables for six but under the same PS #. All I wanted to do was cancel one of the tables. I agree with maximizing occupants vs. table space but Disney does not even have a consistent policy on this. Some restaurants allow modifications others do not.

In that case, I would definately go ahead and keep the PSs you have at those restaurants. Just show up and tell them there are now only 6 of you. I'm sure they will go ahead and seat you and you'll make some walk-up people very happy! We have shown up several times with a few less people than we have a PS for (somebody isn't feeling good, is too tired, etc.) and we have never had a problem getting seated. They are much more flexible at the actual restaurants than they are when you make the PS.

I would go ahead and just show up with 6. At CRT we used to be happy when large parties like that became less since out largest table was for 6. This way we didnt have to go through the separate table spiel and we made some walk ups very happy!

Well you tried to be fair and reduce the party size, but I don't think you should be penalized by losing your ressies. Go ahead and show up, they will accomodate you I hope!! Good luck.
