Changing mind for a ride DAS

I am hoping we get DAS for my daughter--ADHD, sensory and Anxiety issues leading to meltdowns and attacks in long lines that we end up having to leave parks early.

Anyways, part of the problem is she changes her minds. Sometimes she wants to do roller coasters or water rides, sometimes she freaks out when she gets close. If we book a DAS selection, and then when we get to the front of the line, she changes her mind, do the rest of us have to go through the whole process of waiting in the longer line?

We have a party of 8 and the adults will be rotating the DAS rides with her. Is there a way to get the "non" riding adult to wait with her? Like come in from the back or something?

Technically, yes. The DAS-holder must ride. YMMV as it seems some CMs may be lenient but I would not count it. Only use DAS if you are sure the DAS-holder will ride, or at least make alternative plans for any attractions that are "must do" for others in your party.

You could try to line up a Genie+. Same with former FP and current Genie+/ILL$ - to enter the Lightning Lane one must have the right "access" to that lane. Even as a "non-rider" they must have the Genie+ (or ILL$) or DAS Return Time to enter the queue. I'm not sure what you mean "come in from the back" because there is no other access to the queue.

You all need to pass through scanning twice . Then she can exit in the chicken exit with someone .

At 8 yrs old, WDW will allow her to exit on her own. Whether you feel comfortable with that, with someone waiting at the exit, is your decision. But nobody will be allowed to "enter" through the exit to meet her. You might be able to do a rider-swap at that point - speak to the CM; 1 adult waits with her at/near boarding and then when the rest are done the waiting adult can ride. I wouldn't plan on this with DAS but if using Genie+ or standby it should work.

just be aware that not all rides end at same place as you get on. yes all rides have a "chicken exit" but it may not be a step thru the ride

"I may just not use DAS for the rides she doesn't want to do."???????? To use DAS knowing full well the DAS holder is not going to ride is abuse of the DAS and you could get banned from the parks. If you know she's going to balk at the ride vehicle, be prepared to be escorted out - the entire party.

The PP is correct. If your DAS holder does not ride, whether they bail out before the selection, at the ride tap stiles, or literally as they are getting on the ride, the rest of the party will NOT be allowed to ride - they will also have to leave the ride, and wait through the current standby line to ride.

So, if your child is approved for DAS (which is never a certainty), you would be well-served to only make reservations for rides she will ride. To do otherwise will probably make for a very frustrating and upsetting day.

This is exactly what we did since our DAS rider was the youngest and prone to meltdowns/anxiety attacks after saying he will go on a ride. Anything that was a must do for the rest of us and there was even the slightest chance our DAS rider wouldn't ride, we booked a Genie+. Or the party split up and one or two people took the DAS rider to do something else while we waited standby. And then we swapped.

You don't use das if she isn't going to ride. Full stop. Buy genie +, buy ILL but if she's not riding you can't and don't use it. You can get a das for a ride they want to ride, while the rest of the party waits in the regular line for the ride they want to ride. We use das for our oldest which for the first few trips she couldn't ride the headliners. We either didn't ride or we child swapped and one adult waited to ride while the other one took the kids on a different ride/got a snack/took a break/chilled.

I think Hollywood studios day is not worth the risk of her changing her mind and getting genie+ is the best solution. Epcot and Animal Kingdom we have no issues.

The only other concern might be Splash Mountain. She's done water rides like that before and loved it, and she has chickened out before.

If she changes her mind, they will ask everyone in your party to exit the line.

You are NOT likely to get banned for her changing her mind. The rule about the person registered for DAS needing to ride was made to prevent guests from using ‘Grandma’s‘ DAS when they knew she couldn’t or would be riding anything.
The CMs are understanding of the fact that some people are going to want to ride, but will become upset at the boarding area and not want to ride.

You may get an occasional CM who lets your group ride because they see your child really wanted to ride and just couldn’t make themselves. But, be prepared that they could/would send you all out of line.

If there are some you are pretty sure she will change her mind, use Genie+ for those and use DAS for things you are sure of.

I have had to leave the LL line before because of my issues and my whole party left with me. we did not ask if they could ride since it is against the rules. I did ask if we could get back into the line after the issue was resolved but they said unfortunately no. I just scheduled the ride again in the app and waited the required amount of time. It is what it is. Even with this is is much better than having to leave the line after waiting in it a long time to ride.

As with so many things, this can vary, so be prepared for the having to exit the line scenario. I will say that we have not had that happen. We have gotten into a line together before (one that my son with the DAS DOES want to ride), and he has gotten nervous at the boarding and left through the chicken exit with my husband, while I have ridden with our other child. At that point, the people at loading don't know that we came through the line with the DAS, to be honest. We have truly never tried to cheat the system purposefully, and this has only ever happened twice (him bailing last minute), so I am not saying that it is a good or righteous plan to INTEND to do this. It may work out to continue on the ride, it may not. Be prepared for the worst case scenario I guess, and only attempt rides with the DAS that your child does in fact WANT to do.
