changing from cash to points at 7 months

We have reservations for 4 days at Boardwalk using points and would like to make a 5th day a cash reservation. Question, at our 7 month window when more points become available, can we cancel the cash reservation and use the points without going on any waiting list, if there is a waiting list?

Your cash reservation cannot be "converted" to points nor vice versa. They are separate availability and you can certainly try for the point reservation later on and cancel the cash one but you would be doing the cash ressie through CRO at this early date and the points one through MS of course. I have not seen DVC allow member discount on cash ressies earlier than 7 months in advance. But, it would never hurt to try. Good luck.

You can't just switch it over. If there is points availability, you could extend your points reservation and cancel the cash reservation. If there is no points availability, you would have to waitlist. I would hold onto the cash reservation until the waitlist comes open, that way if it doesn't come up you would still have a room.
