Changing Flights??

Hi, SWA today had some great DINGS PVD to MCO. I had already bought tickets at $59. but the DINGS were priced at $40.! So if I changed my times I could get the DING price. I went to cancel the flight but it stated that FUNDS may not be immediately avaiable for use. So I kept my $59.fare. Has this EVER happened to someone,that the REFUND was NOT instantly available?? This is my first time flying and I was able to change our flights today due to a better DING fare without any trouble at all!!
The only thing I was told was that the *funds* are not credited back on the credit card but put into a transfer fund on the website and I just had to use that option to pay for the new flights.

ETA: The funds were available immediately and the reservation agent even changed my flight info and I paid for it while she was on the line with me!

Hmm when that happened to me... I bought $59 flights and then DING came for 42... I called and had them cancel the old, then I went through DING to book the new with the old ressis #, look for:

Apply Travel Funds
If you have funds from an unused or cancelled reservation, southwestgiftcards™, or Southwest Luv Vouchers you may apply them toward the purchase of this reservation.

It worked right away for me. I went from a non DING to a DING flight.
