Our trip is getting closer :thumbsup2 but my sister-in-law, who was coming with us, has just got engaged and is unable to leave her fella behind for a weekend :lovestruc ! My father-in-law will come instead BUT I booked the eurostar tickets direct and they were the cheapest non-exchangeable ones. Does this mean that I can't simply change the name (the website seems to suggest so) and we're stuck buying another (more expensive) ticket whilst having an empty seat? Has this happened to anyone else?

Secondly, can anyone tell me what happens when you take an under three year old to a table service restaurant? Do they just eat off your plate, or do you order for them? I'd like to do Auberge with my 7 and 2 year olds, and I know the 7 year old won't be sharing desserts!

All advice welcome!

Im not 100% sure about the Eurostar but Im sure you cant change the name - I vaguely seem to remember someone else trying to change it.

In table service restaurants you can either order a meal for your 2 yr old or share your food with them. I remember someone saying they had just ordered an extra side for their child and then added some of their food to it. However this woudnt work in Auberge as its a set meal. I suppose you could feed the 2 yr old before you went from a counter service and then allow them to just pick little bits from your food - its an expensive meal and you may find they dont eat much anyhow due to the excitement

in the auberge i have seen them give a little plate to a child who was obviously under three but they dont have to. the waitress was probably just being nice.

before my dd was three i would feed her off my plate and order a side like small world said

No you can't change the names so you will need another ticket. I'm not sure if it's the norm but our tickets weren't checked against our passports to check the names

Thanks for your help everyone!

So, when sis-in-law doesn't turn up, we will just have a spare seat?

Actually, given the volume of my 4 kids I might just go and sit in the new seat all by myself :rolleyes1

Thanks for the info about Auberge - we normally stick to buffets for our main meals, which is why I was unsure what happened!

Hi,

We ate in Auberge last year with our 2 year old & he had a bowl of tomato pasta which was provided free, the CM said that as he was under 3 he couldn't have the three courses but he got a drink and main course without charge x
