Changing DVC room super last minute- what would happen to fastpasses?

I have read that if you cancel a resort reservation, your fastpasses will be cancelled with it. This is recent and I have not been since this new rule has been issued. I am notorious for changing my DVC reservations all over the place. If I MODIFY an existing reservation, what happens to my fastpasses?

Now my second question- I have an upcoming stay for 2 nights at ALK (in 2 weeks). I have a friend who has 50 expiring points and told me I could go ahead and use them. I am stalking the RAT for those 2 nights at GF and Poly (fat chance I know I know) but if these 2 nights DO come in, I will cancel my AKL reservation and keep GF or Poly. I am totally aware since it is within 30 days that MY points will go into holding which isn't really a problem as we will use them. But what happens to my FP? If I get poly, and link it to MDE, then cancel AKL, will they stay or are they somehow "linked" to the AKL reservation? I will not be modifying, I will be cancelling but I will be there those days, onsite, just on another members points. Any ideas?

I was told that you had 48 hours to rebook your room and link to MDE to prevent cancellation of FPs. The suggestion on DIS has been to screenshot the FP you have reserved in case any issues arise.

Using the "modify a reservation" option on the website, your reservation should retain the same reservation number, so your FPs would not change. In the second case, where you actually will cancel and use your friend's points, your would need to enter the new reservation number into your MDE account shortly after canceling your existing reservation...since they will be different reservation numbers.
